MAINTAIN AN ASSOCIATION OF PERSONS INTERESTED IN LIBRARIES AND LITERACY. FOCUS PUBLIC ATTENTION ON THE LIBRARY. STIMULATE USE OF LIBRARY RESOURCES AND SERVICES. RECEIVE AND ENCOURAGE GIFITS TO THE LIBRARY. SUPPORT AND COOPERATE WITH THE LIBRARY IN DEVELOPING LIBRARY SERVICES.

THE FOCUS OF THE ORGANIZATION AND THE PAMLICO COUNTY COMMUNITY HAS BEEN ENERGIZED AND DIRECTED TOWARD THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A STAND-ALONE LIBRARY/COMMUNITY CENTER. THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY (FOL) CONTRACTED WITH AN ARCHITECT/ENGINEERING FIRM IN NOVEMBER 2022 TO START THE PROJECT. THE CURRENT LIBRARY SHARES SPACE THE HIGH SCHOOL FACILITY AS A TENANT. THE RECENT AWARD OF A $50M GOVERNMENT GRANT TO BUILD A NEW SCHOOL COMPLEX IN THE COUNTY SEAT WILL RESULT IN THE RAZING OF THE EXISTING LIBRARY WITHOUT A REPLACEMENT AND ADDS IMPETUS TO THE PROJECT.
THE FOL OFFERS BOOKS TO THE POWELLS COMPANY. THEY BUY BACK BOOKS AND PROVIDE CREDIT TOWARD THE PURCHASE OF NEW BOOKS. ADDITIONALLY, THE FOL PURCHASED A 10X20 TENT TO FACILITATE OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED BY THE LIBRARY AND FOL. THE FOL AWARDED A $1,000.00 SCHOLARSHIP TO A HS SENIOR.
HOLIDAY CELEBRATION PROGRAMS ARE CONDUCTED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR SUCH AS THE HALLOWEEN TRUNK-OR-TREAT AND THE CHRISTMAS PROGRAM. FOL PROVIDED A LARGE COLLECTION OF CHILDRENS BOOKS AND GAMES TO HEARTWORKS A PAMLICO COUNTY NON-PROFIT THAT SUPPORTS YOUNG AFTERSCHOOL CHILDREN. THIS SEPARATED LIBRARY SETTING IS SPONSORED BY THE PUBLIC LIBRARY AND FOL. STORY TIME IS CONDUCTED BY THE PAMLICO COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARYS CHILDRENS LIBRARIAN AT THE HEARWORKS FACILITY.
