MARYLAND HEALTH BENEFITS EXCHANGE (MHBE) IS THE AGENCY ADMINISTERING MARYLAND HEALTH CONNECTION, THE HEALTH INSURANCE EXCHANGE IN MARYLAND, CREATED IN ACCORDANCE FEDERAL LEGISLATION THE PATIENT PROTECTION AND AFFORDABLE CARE ACT. IN FY 16, HEALTHY HOWARD SERVES AS THE CONNECTOR ENTITY FOR TWO OF THE STATE'S EIGHT REGIONS, INCLUDING THE MID-WESTERN REGION (COVERING HOWARD, FREDERICK AND CARROLL COUNTIES) AND THE FAR WEST (WASHINGTON, ALLEGANY, AND GARRETT COUNTIES). IN THIS CAPACITY, HEALTHY HOWARD CONNECTS HELPS EDUCATE RESIDENTS ON DIFFERENT HEALTH INSURANCE OPTIONS BASED ON ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA AND HELPS ENROLL THEM INTO APPROPRIATE INSURANCE PRODUCTS.
