WE OPERATE AS A MUSEUM. WE MAINTAIN A 7 ACRE SITE WITH 15 RESTORED BUILDINGS WHICH CONTAIN EXHIBITS THAT ARE OPEN FOR TOURING DURING THE SUMMER. WE RELY ON MEMBERSHIP FEES, DONATIONS AND FUNDRAISERS TO COVER OUR OPERATING EXPENSES.
WE WERE GIVEN A 100 FT BY 40 FT YEAR OLD BARN. WE HAVE TO MOVE IT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD, CROSSING 2 HIGHWAYS AND THEN PUT IT ON A FOUNDATION AND RENOVATE IT. EXPENSES IN 2021 INCLUDED A $30,000 DOWN PAYMENT FOR THE MOVER AND PAYMENTS TO REMOVE POWER LINES ON THE DAY OF THE MOVE. THE BARN WAS MOVED THE FIRST WEEK OF MARCH 2022.
IN 2020 WE BOUGHT A 29' CHRIS CRAFT BOAT WE ARE TAKING DONATIONS TO RENOVATE AN EXISTING BOAT HOUSE AS A PERMANENT BUILDING TO HOUSE THE BOAT AND TO BE A SMALL MUSEUM SHOWROOM.
