IN 2023 THE YMCA SERVED 5689 INDIVIDUALS AS YMCA MEMBERS, AND/OR PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS OR GUESTS. PEOPLE OF ALL AGES, GENDER, AND ECONOMIC BACKGROUND BENEFITED FROM AN ASSET BUILDING ENVIRONMENT. THE YMCA OFFERS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR YMCA MEMBERSHIPS AND PROGRAM PARTICIPATION TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES THROUGH OUR SCHOLARSHIP ASSISTANCE PROGRAM SO THAT THE YMCA IS AVAILABLE TO ALL. IN 2023 WE PROVIDED 640 INDIVIDUALS WITH MEMBERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP ASSISTANCE VALUED AT $44,485, INCLUDING FREE MEMBERSHIPS TO SPECIAL OLYMPICS, THAT ALLOWED THEM TO BUILD STRONGER FAMILY BONDS AND TO BE PART OF A COMMUNITY OF PEOPLE THAT ENHANCES THEIR SPIRIT, MIND, AND BODY. MANY OF THESE PEOPLE GO ON TO GAIN AN APPRECIATION FOR HEALTHY LIVING AND BECOME A MORE INVOLVED PART OF THE COMMUNITY THROUGH VOLUNTEERISM. COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS WITH WHICH THE YMCA HAS PROVIDED PROGRAMS AND FACILITIES TO SERVE MORE OF THE COMMUNITY IN HEALTHY LIFESTYLE ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: ADENA MEDICAL CENTER; FAYETTE PROGRESSIVE INDUSTRIES; VARIOUS COMMUNITY HEALTH FAIRS, SCHOOL WELLNESS PROJECTS; RANCH OF OPPORTUNITY; SOUTHERN STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE; AND MIAMI TRACE AND WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE SCHOOLS VARSITY SWIM AND BASEBALL TEAMS .
MISCELLANEOUS REVENUES FROM RENT OF FACILITY, SALE OF SUPPLIES AND OTHER MISCELLANEOUS.
SCHOOL AGE BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CHILD CARE, AND SUMMER DAY CAMP SERVED 148 KIDS IN 2023. THE YMCA ALSO PROVIDED SCHOLARSHIP ASSISTANCE FOR SUMMER DAY CAMP VALUED AT $8,000. YMCA SCHOOL AGE CHILD CARE SERVING KIDS IN KINDERGARTEN THROUGH 6TH GRADE PROVIDES A LASTING EXPERIENCE OF PERSONAL ENRICHMENT IN A SAFE, SUPERVISED, ASSET BUILDING ENVIRONMENT. CHILD CARE OFFERS ADVENTURE AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES THAT PROVIDE CHALLENGE AND PROMOTE SPIRITUAL AWARENESS, MENTAL DEVELOPMENT, PHYSICAL WELL-BEING, SOCIAL GROWTH, AND SELF-RESPECT. CHILD CARE HELPS PREPARE KIDS FOR SCHOOL AND GROW TO BE SUCCESSFUL ADULTS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO THE HEALTH OF THE COMMUNITY.
IN LIGHT OF RISING OBESITY RATES IN THE UNITED STATES OUR YMCA PARTICIPATES IN YMCA OF THE USA HEALTHY LIVING INITIATIVES AND ENGAGES IN A VARIETY OF PROGRAMS AND COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES DESIGNED TO HELP THE AT RISK POPULATION DEVELOP HABITS AND RELATIONSHIPS THAT LEAD TO MORE ACTIVE LIFESTYLES. IN ADDITION, DUE TO THE ASSETS DEFICIT MANY KIDS SUFFER FROM WE REINFORCE ASSET DEVELOPMENT IN ALL WE DO. THIS INCLUDES AFTER SCHOOL, SPORTS, ARTS AND ENRICHMENT, AQUATICS, AND WELL-BEING PROGRAMS. IN 2023 THE YMCA CONTINUED YOUTH FITNESS INITIATIVES, INCLUDING PRE-TEEN FITNESS TRAINING; SPORTS SPECIFIC TRAINING AND CONDITIONING, AND YOUTH ENRICHMENT. SPORTS PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH, FAMILIES, AND ADULTS PROMOTE TEAMWORK, INTERACTION, AND DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIAL AND PHYSICAL SKILLS. 626 KIDS AGES 3-15 PARTICIPATED IN YMCA YOUTH SPORTS IN 2023. OUR SILVER SNEAKERS AND AQUATIC EXERCISE PROGRAMS KEEP SENIORS ACTIVE AND FLEXIBLE. OUR INSTRUCTIONAL AQUATICS PROGRAM HELPS DEVELOP PHYSICAL AND WATER SAFETY SKILLS IN TODDLERS AND YOUTH. OUR FAMILY SWIM PROGRAM GIVES ADULTS AND CHILDREN SHARED TIME IN THE POOL TO APPRECIATE ONE ANOTHER AND PROMOTE INTERGENERATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS. 296 KIDS PARTICIPATED IN SWIM LESSONS IN 2023. YMCA YOUTH AND TEEN PROGRAMS SUCH AS STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING, TEEN NIGHTS, FUN NIGHTS, AND DAY CAMP GIVE KIDS GOOD ROLE MODELS TO HELP THEM DEVELOP SELF-ESTEEM AND GOOD VALUES, INCLUDING COOPERATION, RESPECT, CITIZENSHIP, AND A STRONG WORK ETHIC. OUR FAMILY STRENGTHENING PROGRAMS, SUCH AS FREE FAMILY NIGHTS, FAMILY MARTIAL ARTS, DADDY-DAUGHTER DANCE, AND MOVIE NIGHTS AT THE Y PROVIDE AN OUTLET FOR FAMILIES TO BUILD STRONGER BONDS WHILE INTERACTING WITH FAMILIES OF VARIOUS SOCIOECONOMIC BACKGROUNDS. OUR SERVICES ARE OFFERED AT AFFORDABLE FEES FOR THE COMMUNITY AT-LARGE, WITH REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS FOR THOSE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS.
