NLGA CONDUCTS AN ANNUAL MEETING, USUALLY HOSTED BY A MEMBER, AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHOWCASE UNIQUE STATE-BY-STATE RESOURCES, BEST PRACTICES, SHARED SOLUTIONS, AND COMMON EXPERIENCES WITH A GOAL TO INCREASE THE EFFICIENCY AND EFFECTIVENESS OF GOVERNMENT. THE MEETING AVERAGES AN ECONOMIC IMPACT OF MORE THAN $400,000 FOR THE STATE WHICH HOSTS IT (2012). AT THIS MEETING, TWO SECOND-IN-COMMANDS ARE RECOGNIZED WITH AN AWARD FOR (1) LEADERSHIP IN THE ARTS AND (2) LEADERSHIP IN RECYCLING. NLGA MEMBERS PASSED BIPARTISAN POLICY STATEMENTS OF SHARED CONCERN.
