THE STEPHENS PTA (PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION) SERVICES STEPHENS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, IN BURLINGTON, KY, WHICH IS AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN THE STATE WITH AN ENROLLMENT OF OVER 700. WE PROVIDE ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS FOR THE STUDENTS TO HELP SUPPLEMENT THEIR PUBLIC EDUCATION. OUR PRIMARY SOURCE OF FUNDING IS THROUGH THE BOOSTERTHON STUDENT FUN RUN AND THE SPRING CARNIVAL.THIS YEAR WE PROVIDED EVERY TEACHER IN THE SCHOOL WITH $50 TO BUY CLASSROOM SUPPORT MATERIALS. WE FINANCIALLY SUPPORT ALL CLUBS AT STEPHENS, INCLUDING: ART CLUB, CROSS COUNTRY, CHORUS, DRAMA CLUB, ACADEMIC TEAM, GARDEN CLUB, LEGO CLUB AND TECHNOLOGY CLUB. WE PAY FOR BOTH THE 5TH GRADE GRADUATION CELEBRATION AND THE PRESCHOOL GRADUATION. WE ALSO PAY FOR VARIOUS AWARDS GIVEN THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR. WE SUPPORT THE KY STATEWIDE TESTING WEEK AND CONTRIBUTE SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND FIELD TRIP EXPENSES FOR STUDENTS ON FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH.THE PTA BUYS BOOKS FOR THE SCHOOL LIBRARY EVERY YEAR AND SUPPORTS THE SANDY HULL READING PROGRAM, SO THAT WE CAN HELP AS MANY STUDENTS AS POSSIBLE REACH THEIR READING POTENTIAL.WE HAVE DEVELOPED SEVERAL WEEK LONG ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS THAT WE FINANCIALLY SUPPORT AND STAFF WITH VOLUNTEERS EACH YEAR, INCLUDING: KY KIDS WEEK, PARENTS AS READING PARTNERS, AND REFLECTIONS CULTURAL ARTS PROGRAM. WE PAY FOR LEARNING ENRICHING ASSEMBLIES SUCH AS THE THEATRE DOME AND VARIOUS ARTS & HUMANITIES TO COME TO THE SCHOOL.WE HOST A BACK TO SCHOOL FESTIVAL FOR FAMILIES IN AUGUST, A HOLIDAY BREAKFAST FOR FAMILIES IN DECEMBER, AND STAFF APPRECIATION EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. WE ALSO ORGANIZE A VALENTINE'S DANCE AND A SPAGHETTI DINNER FOR STEPHEN'S STAFF AND FAMILIES.
