ASHLAND SCHOOL SAFETY PATROL INC OPERATES A SCHOOL SAFETY PATROL PROGRAM IN BOYD AND LAWRENCE COUNTIES OF KENTUCKY. THE PROGRAM IS OFFERED TO FIFTH AND SIXTH GRADERS WHO MEET CERTAIN ESTABLISHED CRITERIA FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAM, WHICH IS CARRIED OUT DURING SCHOOL HOURS. THE STUDENTS WHO PARTICIPATE ARE APPROVED AND SELECTED BY A SPONSOR, USUALLY A TEACHER, AND THE SCHOOLS PARTICIPATION MUST BE APPROVED BY THE BOARDS OF EDUCATION. ASHLAND SCHOOL SAFETY PATROL INC PROVIDES THE INITIAL INSTRUCTION AND TRAINING AND ALSO MONTHLY TRAINING MEETINGS FOR ALL THE STUDENTS SELECTED FOR PARTICIPATION AND THIS IS THE ONLY DIRECT CONTACT IT HAS WITH THE STUDENTS. AFTER THE VARIOUS PATROL MEMBERS ARE ASSIGNED AND POSTED AT THEIR RESPECTIVE STREET CROSSINGS OR INTERSECTION BY THE SPONSORS, ASHLAND SCHOOL SAFETY PATROL INC MAKES RANDOM PERIODIC OBSERVATIONS OF THEIR PERFORMANCE. IF ANY RULE INFRACTIONS OR UNBECOMING CONDUCT IS NOTED THIS INFORMATION IS RELAYED TO THE SPONSORS WHO TAKE THE APPROPRIATE DISCIPLINARY ACTION. IN ADDITION ASHLAND SCHOOL SAFETY PATROL INC PROVIDES RAIN GEAR, BADGES, ETC. AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR IN APRIL, ASHLAND SCHOOL SAFETY PATROL INC TAKES THE ENTIRE SCHOOL SAFETY PATROL AND CHAPERONES ON A FIELD TRIP , WHICH THEY HAVE ARRANGED AND PAID FOR FROM SOLICITED FUNDS AND DONATIONS. THE TRIP THIS YEAR WAS TO COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG, MONTICELLO, JAMESTOWN & YORKTOWN. THE TOTAL STUDENTS AND CHAPERONES TOTALED 180 INDIVIDUALS. THE ASHLAND SCHOOL SAFETY PATROL INC DOES NOT OPERATE ANY OTHER PROGRAM NOR MAKE GRANTS OR CONTRIBUTIONS TO INDIVIDUALS OR ORGANIZATIONS.
