TO ADVOCATE AND PROMOTE MEANINGFUL PARTICIPATION IN ALL ASPECTS OF LIFE FOR FLORIDIANS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. THIS YEAR WE ACCOMPLISHED THIS IN AREAS OF HOUSING, TRANSPORTATION, EDUCATION, EMPLOYMENT, AND SELF- ADVOCACY/LEADERSHIP.

THE FLORIDA DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES COUNCIL (FDDC) UTILIZES FEDERAL DOLLARS TO PUSH FOR CHANGES IN EXISTING SYSTEMS, ENHANCE EXISTING PROGRAMS, CREATE PILOT PROGRAMS THAT ESTABLISH BEST PRACTICES, AND LEVERAGE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE DOLLARS TO INCREASE CAPACITY FOR SERVICES FOR PERSONS WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AND THEIR FAMILIES. WE ESTABLISHED A TRANSPORTATION VOUCHER PILOT PROGRAM THAT CREATED SUSTAINABILITY OF 24/7 AFFORDABLE TRANSPORTATION SERVICES FOR PERSONS WITH I/DD IN AN URBAN COMMUNITY TO BE EXPANDED STATEWIDE; ESTABLISHED THE INFRASTRUCTURE FOR A NOT FOR PROFIT ORGANIZATION FOR SELF-ADVOCATES SO THEY CAN CONTINUE ADVOCACY EFFORTS, AND IMPLEMENTED A STATEWIDE OUTREACH PROGRAM THAT INCLDUED THOUSANDS OF INDIVIDUALS AND THEIR FAMILIES IN THE DD COMMUNITY.
