SINCE 1993, COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS OF NASSAU COUNTY, INC. HAS REMAINED FOCUSED ON HELPING STRUGGLING YOUTH STAY IN SCHOOL, GRADUATE AND PREPARE FOR A PRODUCTIVE LIFE CIS SURROUNDS STUDENTS WITH A COMMUNITY OF SUPPORT BY UTILIZING THE POWER OF PARTNERSHIPS AND EMBEDDING PROFESSIONAL STAFF IN THE PLACE WHERE CHILDREN ALREADY SPEND THEIR DAYS-PUBLIC SCHOOLS. CIS NASSAU WHOLE-SCHOOL SERVICES REACH OVER 5,000 MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS EACH YEAR, WITH 500-700 OF THESE YOUTH RECEIVING PRESCRIPTIVE CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES, INCLUDING INDIVIDUAL AND SMALL GROUP GOAL-SETTING, MENTORING, COACHING FOR ATTENDANCE AND BEHAVIOR, TUTORING, REMEDIATION, CAREER EXPLORATION, INTERVIEW SKILLS, GUIDANCE FOR HEALTHY CHOICES, FAMILY ENGAGEMENT, MOTIVATION, REFERRALS.
