HEALTHY START STRIVES TO REDUCE FLORIDAS INFANT MORTALITY AND MORBIDITY RATES AND HAS CONTRIBUTED TO IMPROVEMENTS IN BIRTH OUTCOMES, INCLUDING A DECLINE IN MORTALITY RATES. FLORIDA LEADS THE SOUTHERN STATES IN LOW INFANT MORTALITY RATES. HEALTHY START TEACHES MOTHERS HOW TO CARE FOR THEIR CHILDREN THROUGH THE MOMCARE PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM ALSO HELPS SUPPLY BABY CARE ITEMS AND DIRECTS MOTHERS TO OTHER AGENCIES FOR HELP.
