HABITAT FOR HUMANITY BUILDS STRENGTH, STABILITY AND SELF-RELIANCE THROUGH SHELTER. SEEKING TO PUT GOD'S LOVE INTO ACTION, WE BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER TO BUILD HOMES, COMMUNITIES AND HOPE.

SINCE OUR INCEPTION IN 1991 AND IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OUR COMMUNITY, HABITAT SEMINOLE-APOPKA HAS BUILT AND RENOVATED NEARLY 250 HOMES. THESE ARE MOSTLY SINGLE-FAMILY AND TOWNHOMES. INDIVIDUALS, FOUNDATIONS, CORPORATIONS, FAITH ORGANIZATIONS, GOVERNMENT, AND CIVIC GROUPS PROVIDE GENEROUS GIFTS TO ADDRESS THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING CRISIS AND GIVE POSSIBILITIES TO FAMILIES STRUGGLING FINANCIALLY AND WANTING A BETTER LIFE. TOGETHER WE HELP BREAK A CYCLE OF POVERTY AND CREATE GENERATIONAL WEALTH WITH OUR NEIGHBORS IN NEED. IN ADDITION TO GENEROUS GIFTS, RESOURCES, LAND, AND TALENT, 661 UNIQUE VOLUNTEERS PROVIDED OVER 8,000 HOURS OF THEIR TIME LAST YEAR.


OUR HOME BUYING PROGRAM HAS A LOW FORECLOSURE RATE DUE TO THE ROBUST CLASSES OUR CLIENTS MUST TAKE TO PREPARE THEM FOR LONG-TERM, SUCCESSFUL HOMEOWNERSHIP. IN ADDITION, WE OFFER FREE COURSES TO THE PARTICIPANTS AND ARE OPEN TO ANYONE IN OUR COMMUNITY INTERESTED IN OUR HABITAT FINANCIAL ACADEMY. OUR MANDATORY CLASSES TAKE THE WHOLE PERSON APPROACH, AND THE CURRICULUM INCLUDES BUDGETING, PLANNING AND SAVING FOR FUTURE REPAIRS, INCREASING SAVING, HOME MAINTENANCE, CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, WILLS AND TRUSTS, PREDATORY LENDING, MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH, NUTRITION, AND OTHER PRACTICAL TOPICS.
