RECOGNITION EVENTS - TEACHER OF THE YEAR, SCHOOL RELATED EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR, TURNAROUND STUDENT - RECOGNITION OF OUTSTANDING TEACHERS AND SCHOOL RELATED EMPLOYEES FOR THEIR EFFORTS TO HELP STUDENTS OF HERNANDO COUNTY.
TOOLS 4 SCHOOLS TEACHER SUPPLY STORE - THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES SCHOOL SUPPLIES YEAR ROUND TO TEACHERS AND STUDENTS. THE PROGRAM ALLOWS TEACHERS TO SHOP FOR FREE FOR SUPPLIES FOR THEIR CLASSROOMS AND/OR STUDENTS IN NEED. THIS PROGRAM SERVES OVER 24 SCHOOLS AND REACHES MORE THAN 23,000 STUDENTS AND 1,600 TEACHERS. THE TOOLS 4 SCHOOLS STORE IS A PHYSICAL STORE STOCKED THROUGH DONATIONS AND DONATED FUNDS. OPERATION CINDERELLA BOUTIQUE - THIS STORE IS FOR STUDENTS OF LOW-INCOME FAMILIES WHO ARE LOOKING FOR A GOOD QUALITY DRESS OR SUIT FOR THEIR HIGH SCHOOL OR MIDDLE SCHOOL DANCES. THE BOUTIQUE HAS RECEIVED NONCASH CONTRIBUTIONS OF 134 QUALITY DRESSES AND SUITS DURING THE YEAR. THESE DRESSES & SUITS ARE OFFERED AT NO COSTS TO THE STUDENT OR THEIR FAMILY.
CLASSROOM GRANTS, SCHOLARSHIPS AND SPECIAL FUNDING - THESE PROGRAMS PROVIDE FUNDING FOR TEACHERS (GRANTS) AND STUDENTS (SCHOLARSHIPS AND SUPPLIES). WORKING WITH CORPORATE AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS, THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS TO OVER 24 SCHOOLS (TEACHERS AND STUDENTS). PROVIDES FUNDING AND EXTRA RESOURCES FOR STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND SCHOOLS TO COVER THE GAP THAT EXISTS BETWEEN WHAT THE SCHOOL BUDGETS AND WHAT IS NEEDED TO ENSURE THE ACADEMIC SUCCESS OF OUR STUDENTS.
THE TAKE STOCK IN CHILDREN PROGRAM PROVIDES A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR LOW- INCOME AND AT-RISK STUDENTS, MANY FROM MINORITY FAMILIES, TO ESCAPE THE CYCLE OF POVERTY THROUGH EDUCATION. THIS PROGRAM OFFERS STUDENTS COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS, CARING VOLUNTEER MENTORS, AND HOPE FOR A BETTER LIFE.
