CHILDREN VISIT A MINIATURE "VILLAGE" THAT INCLUDES CHILD-SIZE BUILDINGS, PAVED STREETS, SIDEWALKS, CROSSWALKS SIGNALS, A FUNCTIONING TRAFFIC LIGHT, A RAILROAD CROSSING, FIRE SAFETY HOUSE AND A WATER SAFETY COMPLEX. THE SAFETY VILLAGE SERVES AS AN ESSENTIAL INTERACTIVE RESOURCE FOR TEACHING LIFE-SAFETY EDUCATION. CSV'S EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS ALLOW CHILDREN TO LEARN ABOUT AND PRACTICE FIRE SAFETY, TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIAN SAFETY, WATER SAFETY, BICYCLE AND HELMET SAFETY, DANGEROUS PERSON AWARENESS, INTERNET SAFETY AND OTHER PERSONAL LIFE SAFETY SKILLS IN A REALISTIC SETTING. THE PROGRAMS CONSIST OF CAR SEAT SAFETY WORKSHOPS, CHILD RESTRAINT OFFENDER PROGRAM (CROP) AND CAR SEAT INSTALLATION. THESE PROGRAM OFFER PARENTS, GRANDPARENTS AND OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS THE SAFETY AND SECURITY OF HAVING THEIR CHILD'S CAR SEAT INSTALLED BY CERTIFIED CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY TECHNICIAN. A CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL WORKS WITH THE INDIVIDUALS TO ENSURE THAT THEY KNOW WHAT IS REQUIRED TO INSTALL THEIR CAR SEAT CORRECTLY. EACH CAR SEAT IS INSPECTED FOR MANUFACTURER RECALLS AND THE LOCATION OF THEIR EXPIRATION DATE. CROP IS A PROGRAM FOR DRIVERS WHO HAVE RECEIVED A CITATION FOR NOT HAVING A CHILD(REN) PROPERLY RESTRAINED IN A MOVING VEHICLE. FINGERPRINTING & ID CARDSCSV OFFERS FINGERPRINTING & ID SERVICES FOR CHILDREN OF ALL AGES, TO INCLUDE CHILDREN WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AND CHILDREN WHO MAY BE AT RISK. THESE FINGERPRINT RECORDS CAN BE USED BY THE POLICE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. PARENTS RECEIVE 2 WALLET SIZE ID CARDS WITH COLOR PHOTO OF THEIR CHILD, AS WELL AS 1 LARGE CARD WITH THE CHILD'S PHOTO PLUS 10 DIGITAL FINGERPRINTS TO STORE AT HOME IN A SAFE PLACE. THE ID CARD INCLUDE PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION SUCH AS HEIGHT, WEIGHT, RACE, COLOR OF EYES AND HAIR, EMERGENCY CONTACT NAMES, IDENTIFYING SCARS, BIRTHMARKS, DATE OF BIRTH, AND ANY LIFE-THREATENING MEDICAL CONDITIONS.
EDUCATION PROGRAMS SUCH AS FIELD TRIP REVENUE AND CAR SEAT REVENUEFIELD TRIP PROGRAMS TEACH CHILDREN TO PRACTICE SAFETY SKILLS THROUGH HANDS ON AND INTERACTIVE ACTIVITIES AND ROLE PLAYING EXERCISES AT THE FACILITY.
