THE MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE TO THE WEST PALM BEACH FORCE THROUGH SPECIAL PROGRAMS, AWARD RECOGNITION, AND CAPITAL FOR SPECIAL PURCHASES FOR WHICH THE CITY OR GRANT MONEY IS UNAVAILABLE. PROGRAMS IN THE COMMUNITY FOCUS ON IMPROVING RELATIONS BETWEEN POLICE OFFICERS AND THE RESIDENTS.

THE FUND RAISES MONEY AND ADMINISTERS A PROGRAM TO PROVIDE A $4,000 SCHOLARSHIP TO CHILDREN FOR SWORN POLICE OFFICERS FOR STATE COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY OR VOCATIONAL EDUCATION. THE REQUIREMENTS ARE THAT AN OFFICER HAS TO HAVE BEEN EMPLOYED CONTINUOUSLY FOR TWO YEARS AND IN GOOD STANDING. IN THIS TAX YEAR 49 CANDIDATES RECEIVED SCHOLARSHIPS AND THE SCHOLARSHIPS ARE A SIGNIFICANT BENEFIT TO THE OFFICERS AND THEIR FAMILIES.
OTHER PROGRAMS TO SUPPORT THE MISSION OF THE FOUNDATION.
THE ANNUAL WPB POLICE AWARDS CEREMONY IN MARCH IS THE MARQUIS RECOGNITION EVENT FOR THE MEMBERS IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. ROUGHLY 50 AWARDS ARE GIVEN OUT. THERE ARE 9 CATEGORIES OF AWARDS THAT HAVE AN OFFICER OF THE QUARTER AWARD AND ONE OF THOSE GETS OFFICER OF THE YEAR. THE POLICE CHIEF DETERMINES THE RECIPIENTS. THERE ARE VIDEOS MADE OF ALL AWARDEES AND THE REASON FOR THEIR SELECTION. THE EVENT IS HELD AT A BUFFET STYLE LUNCH FOR THE OFFICERS AND THEIR SPOUSES. OVER 250 PEOPLE ATTEND. THIS EVENT BOOSTS MORALE FOR THE WHOLE DEPARTMENT, AND IMPROVES RETENTION AND RECRUITMENT.
AT YEAR END THE FUND PROVIDES A GIFT CARD OF $200 TO EACH EMPLOYEE OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AT THAT TIME. THESE CASH AWARDS BUILD LOYALTY AND SHOWS THE DEPARTMENT MEMBERS THAT THEIR WORK IS APPRECIATED.
