TO IMPROVE LIVES BY MOBILIZING THE CARING POWER OF THE PEOPLE OF CITRUS COUNTY THORUGH INVOLVEMENT WITH TARGETED COMMUNITY INITIATIVES.

THE REHOUSING PROGRAM ASSISTS HOMELESS FAMILIES BY OFFERING SUPPORT TO ELIGIBLE CLIENTS. ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED FOR MOVE-IN FEES IF NEEDED, MONTHLY RENT, AND UTILITIES. EACH FAMILY WAS CASE-MANAGED MONTHLY, MORE IF NEEDED, FOR THE DURATION OF THEIR PROGRAM ENROLLMENT. DURING THE CASE MANAGEMENT SESSIONS, BILLS WERE REVIEWED AND BUDGETS WERE CREATED TO HELP THE FAMILIES BECOME SELF-SUSTAINABLE.


THE READING PALS PROGRAM PROVIDES MENTORING TO PREKINDERGARTEN AND KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY. THESE STUDENTS RECEIVE ADDITIONAL HOURS OF LITERACY INSTRUCTION FROM TRAINED VOLUNTEERS WHO PROVIDE TAKE-HOME BOOKS FOR PRACTICE.


MISSION UNITED SERVES CITRUS COUNTY VETERANS, MOST OF WHOM ARE ON A FIXED INCOME, BY ASSISTING THEM WITH MEDICAL NEEDS, HOME REPAIRS, RENT, AND VEHICLE MAINTENANCE. VETERANS ALSO RECEIVED ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANCE NAVIGATING THE VA SYSTEM, RETRIEVING FORMS AND DOCUMENTS, AND SEARCHING FOR JOBS WHEN NEEDED.
