THE BROWARD COUNTY FILM SOCIETY,INC ("FILM SOCIETY") PROVIDES,THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO ITS MEMBERS AND COMMUNITIES, SCREENINGS OF NEW INDEPENDENT FILMS AT THREE THEATERS. THE FORT LAUDERDALE LOCATION, KNOWN AS SAVOR CINEMA, IS ALSO THE HOME OF THE FILM SOCIETY. SAVOR CINEMA IS LEASED ANNUALLY FROM ITS OWNER, BROWARD COUNTY, FOR $1 A YEAR. THE DONATED VALUE OF THE THEATER IS DETERMINED TO BE $150,000. IN JANUARY 2013,FILM SOCIETY ENTERED INTO A TEN YEAR LEASE FOR ITS SECOND THEATER LOCATED IN HOLLYWOOD FLORIDA THAT IS KNOWN AS CINEMA PARADISO HOLLYWOOD. RENOVATION IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF FILM SOCIETY. IN 2021 THE FILM SOCIETY LEASED THEIR THIRD VENUE, THE GATEWAY THEATER IN FORT LAUDERDALE. IN 2022,FILM SOCIETY TERMINATE THIS LEASE DUE TO EXPECTED ONGOING OPERATING LOSSES. THE FILM SOCIETY PRODUCES NEWSLETTERS FOR ITS MEMBERS AND OFFERS ITS THEATERS TO LOCAL GROUPS FOR A RENTAL FEE.
THE "FORT LAUDERDALE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL" FLIFF, IS AN INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED THREE WEEK FILM FESTIVAL AND THE 35TH ANNUAL FESTIVAL BEGAN NOVEMBER 5, 2021 THROUGH NOVEMBER 21, 2021 IN THREE FLORIDA CITIES; PRESENTED APPROXIMATELY 170 INDEPENDENT FILMS & DOCUMENTARIES; FLIFF ANNUALLY SPONSORS A STUDENT FILM COMPETITION FOR FLORIDA STUDENTS AND PROVIDES FILM SEMINARS SERIES TO PROMOTE EDUCATION FOR POTENTIAL FILMMAKERS. ADDITIONALLY, FLIFF HISTORACALLY OBTAINES SIGNIFICANT IN-KIND CONTRIBUTIONS FOR ITS ANNUAL EVENTS INCLUDING MARKETING AND ADVERTISING, HOTEL ROOMS, THEATER RENTAL AND PERSONNEL, VIDEO PRODUCTION AND OTHER NEEDED SERVICES. DUE TO THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 MANY OF THESE ACTIVITIES AND PRODUCTIONS WERE VIRTUAL OR WERE NOT ABLE TO BE PROVIDED.
