THE OUTBACK BOWL IS A NEW YEAR'S DAY COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAME THAT PAYS SIGNIFICANT FEES TO NCAA PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS FOR THEIR APPEARANCE IN OUR NEW YEAR'S DAY GAME. THIS YEAR THE OUTBACK BOWL PAID A COMBINED $6,025,000 TO THE SEC AND BIG TEN CONFERENCES. THE OUTBACK BOWL HAS PAID APPROXIMATELY $164,000,000 OVER ITS BRIEF HISTORY TO NCAA MEMBER INSTITUTIONS. THE OUTBACK BOWL ASSUMES THE TREMENDOUS FINANCIAL RISK AND LIABILITY WITH ITS FINANCIAL GUARANTEES TO THE SCHOOLS. THE OUTBACK BOWL NOT ONLY GUARANTEES ENORMOUS AMOUNTS BUT ALSO PROVIDES HOSPITALITY, ENTERTAINMENT, AND GIFTS TO THE NCAA SCHOOLS AS APART OF ITS COMMITMENT. SINCE THE BOWLS INCEPTION IT HAS CREATED AN ECONOMIC IMPACT THE TAMPA BAY ARE IN EXCESS OF $1.1 BILLION FOR THE COMMUNITY.
THE OUTBACK BOWL HAS CONTRIBUTED OVER $3,000,000 OVER THE YEARS TO LOCAL CHARITIES. THIS YEAR THE BOWL HAS CONTRIBUTED $508,000 TO 80 CHARITIES IN THE TAMPA BAY AREA. GOING FORWARD, THE OUTBACK BOWL HAS PLEDGED AN ADDITIONAL $1.5 MILLION OVER THE NEXT THREE YEARS TO CHARITIES FROM OUR CHARITABLE GIVING INITIATIVE.
