SINCE 1971, OUR MISSION HAS BEEN TO PRESERVE THE AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY AND CULTURE THROUGH THE PERFORMING ARTS. AS WE CELEBRATE THE 46TH ANNIVERSARY, OUR COMMITMENT TO THE PRESERVATION OF BLACK HISTORY IS STRONGER THAN EVER. WE CONTINUE TO HOLD ON TO OUR ARTISTIC PHILOSOPHY IN STAYING TRUE TO OUR MISSION AND VISION IN CREATING AND PERFORMING TRADITIONAL , CLASSICAL AND ORIGINAL PRODUCTIONS THAT CELEBRATE THE CULTURE, LITERATURE OF AFRICAN AMERICANS. WE WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE WORKS OF ARTISTIC EXCELLENCE THAT ECHOES THE HISTORIES AND EXPERIENCES OF THE PAST WHILE AT THE SAME TIME EDUCATING THE FUTURE AND INSPIRING HOPE. MEC HAS POSITIVELY SHARED THE AFRICAN AMERICAN CULTURAL HERITAGE IN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY AND NEIGHBORING COUNTIES. THE COMPANY HAS BEEN ONE OF THE FEW IN THE REGION THAT CONSISTENTLY PRODUCE WORKS FOCUSING ON THE AFRICAN AMERICAN EXPERIENCES.
