THE BUILDING INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION CURRENTLY SERVES LEE , HENDRY & GLADES COUNTIES. IT WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1954 AND IS ONE THE OLDEST ASSOCIATIONS IN SOUTHWEST FLORIDA. WE ARE AFFILIATES OF THE FLORIDA HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION AND CHARTERED BY THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF HOME BUILDERS. IN THE HEIGHT OF THE ECONOMY THE BIA MEMBERSHIP WAS OVER 1200 , CURRENTLY WE HAVE OVER 380 MEMBERS . THE BIA STAFF AND VOLUNTEER MEMEBERS ARE DEDICATED TO THE BUILDING INDUSTRY AND THE COMMUNITY. THE BIA BOARD OF DIRECTORS IS 22 STRONG , THEY ARE A MIX OF YOUNG , ENERGETIC , EDUCATED AND EXPERIENCED PROFESSIONALS ; THAT WORK TOGETHER COHESIVELY FOR THE GREATER GOOD OF THE INDUSTRY AND THE COMMUNITY. IN 2005 THE BIA FOUNDED THE LEE BIA BUILDERS CARE TO PROVIDE NO-COST EMERGENCY HOME REPAIRS AND RENOVATION SERVICES TO NEEDY ELDERLY , DISABLED AND ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED HOMEOWNERS. SINCE ITS INCEPTION THE BIA AND BUILDERS CARE HAVE WORKED TIRELESSLY TO ENSURE THE MISSION OF BUILDERS CARE BY PROVIDING SERVICES TO THOSE WHO CANNOT OBTAIN REPAIRS THROUGH TRADITIONAL MEANS . IN THIS SHORT PERIOD OF TIME BUILDERS CARE , THE PHILANTHROPIC ARM OF THE BIA , HAS PROVIDED OVER $3.95 MILLION IN EMERGENCY SERVICES TO THE NEEDY RESIDENTS OF LEE COUNTY. THE BIA'S MISSION IS TO "STRENGTHEN OUR COMMUNITY BY ADVANCING THE PROFESSIONAL BUILDING INDUSTRY THROUGH ADVOCACY , EDUCATION AND SERVICE". AS ADVOCATES FOR THE BUILDING INDUSTRY WE SUPPORT PUBLIC POLICY THAT PROTECTS CONSUMERS , OUR COMMUNITY AND ADVANCES THE INTERESTS OF THE BUILDING INDUSTRY. THE SERVICES WE PROVIDE TO THE MEMBERSHIP HELPS US TO MAINTAIN A STRONG TRADE ASSOCIATION AND A UNITED COALITION FOR THE BUILDING INDUSTRY. WE EDUCATE OUR MEMBERS AND THE COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING THE INFORMATION , EXPERTISE AND OPPORTUNITIES THAT SUPPORT BUSINESS VIABILITY. THE BIA SERVES THE COMMUNITY BY PROMOTING EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS , LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS , AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND ADVOCATES FOR THE AMERICAN DREAM OF HOME OWNERSHIP THAT SHOULD BE IN REACH OF EVERY AMERICAN FAMILY.
