FOSTER GRANDPARENT PROGRAM: OLDER ADULTS 55 YEARS OF AGE AND BETTER PROVIDE ONE ON ONE TUTORINGAND MENTORING TO YOUTH FROM INFANCY TO 21 YEARS OF AGE WITH EXCEPTIONAL OR SPECIAL NEEDS TO HELP INCREASE THEIR LITERACY, SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT, AND OVERALL ACADEMIC ENGAGEMENT.
RETIRED AND SENIOR VOLUNTEER:THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO ENGAGE OLDER INDIVIDUALS IN VOLUNTEER SERVICE IN ORDER TO MEET CRITICAL COMMUNITY NEEDS AND TO PROVIDE A HIGH-QUALITY EXPERIENCE THAT WILL ENRICH THE LIVES OF THE VOLUNTEERS.RESPITE FOR ELDERS LIVING IN EVERYDAY FAMILIES:PROVIDES IN-HOME RESPITE BY VOLUNTEERS TO RELIEVE CAREGIVERS OF OLDER ADULTS. IT OFFERS A MUCH NEEDED BREAK TO FAMILY MEMBERS AND LOVED ONES PROVIDING CONSTANT CARE FOR A FRAIL ELDER AND THOSE STRICKEN WITH ALZHEIMER FS DISEASE AND RELATED DEMENTIA.GENERAL LEGACIES CORPS FOR VETERAN AND MILITARY FAMILIES:SOFIA IS PARTNERING WITH LEGACY CORPS AND THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND TO PROVIDE IN-HOME CAREGIVER RESPITE SERVICES TO SUPPORT VETERAN AND ACTIVE MILITARY FAMILIES WHO PROVIDE CARE TO A FAMILY MEMBER.SOFIA FELOWS:SOFIA FELLOWS ASSISTS EMPLOYED, RETIRED, UNDEREMPLOYED, AND UNEMPLOYEDOLDER ADULTS TRANSITION THEIR SKILL?SETS AND EXPERIENCE INTO SUCCESSFUL OPPORTUNITIES IN THE SOUTH FLORIDA NONPROFIT SECTOR, WHETHER IT IS AS A STRONGLY ENGAGED VOLUNTEER OR AN EMPLOYEE.
SENIOR COMPANION:PROVIDES SUPPORTIVE PERSON-TO-PERSON SERVICES TO ASSIST FRAIL, ELDERLY AND DISABLED ADULTS IN ORDER FOR THEM TO MAINTAIN INDEPENDENCE.
TECH SERVICES:THE TECH SERVICES PROGRAM IS AN AWARD-WINNING TECHNOLOGY CURRICULUM SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR OLDER ADULTS TO STRENGTHEN THEIR SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC WELL-BEING. THROUGH OUR PARTNERSHIPS WITH OLDER ADULTS TECHNOLOGY SERVICES (OATS) AND CYBER SENIORS, BEGINNERS LEARN SKILLS IN EMAIL, ONLINE SAFETY, NAVIGATING MAPS, NAVIGATING WEBSITES AND ONLINE PORTALS AND DOING HEALTH RESEARCH. INTERMEDIATE STUDENTS LEARN SKILLS IN HEALTH MANAGEMENT, ONLINE BANKING, ONLINE SHOPPING, ONLINE RESOURCES, SOCIAL MEDIA, MANAGING MONEY, REDUCING SPENDING, AND IDENTIFYING INCOME OPPORTUNITIES IN THE SHARE ECONOMY.
