PUTNAM-ST. JOHNS COUNTY FARM BUREAU STRIVES TO EDUCATE ADULTS AND YOUTH ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF AGRICULTURE AT VARIOUS EVENTS. AT THE PUTNAM COUNTY FAIR INFORMATIONAL PACKETS WERE DISTRIBUTED FROM OUR BOOTH. THIS YEAR AT THE CRACKER DAY EVENT BOTH YOUTH AND ADULTS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN AND MAKE A BOOK ABOUT PUMPKINS, LEARN WHERE BEESWAX COMES FROM WHILE MAKING A CANDLE, AND LEARN HOW PLANTS GROW WHILE MAKING A NEWSPAPER POT AND PLANTING A SEED SHAPE. HUNDREDS OF ADULTS AND YOUTH FROM THE TRI-COUNTY RURAL AND URBAN AREAS ATTENDED ALL THESE EVENTS.
PUTNAM ST. JOHN'S SPONSORED A AGVENTURE PROGRAM DURING THE SPRINGTIME FARM FESTIVAL. STUDENTS LEARNED ABOUT BEEF AND BEEF BYPRODUCTS AND PLANT IRRIGATION. THROUGH HANDS ON DEMONSTRATIONS STUDENTS ARE EDUCATED ABOUT AGRICULTURE AND ITS IMPORTANCE TO OUR DAILY LIVES.
PUTNAM ST. JOHN'S COUNTY FARM BUREAU SUPPORTS THEIR 4-H AND FFA STUDENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. WE PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS TO HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS WHO PURSUE AN AGRICULTURE RELATED DEGREE AND ASSIST STUDENTS SHOWING AND SELLING THEIR PROJECTS AT THE FAIR.
