OKEECHOBEE COUNTY FARM BUREAU SUPPORTED YOUTH EDUCATION BY HOSTING A SPEECH CONTEST FOR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. PARTICIPANTS WERE ASKED TO RESEARCH AND GIVE A SPEECH ON A TOPIC CURRENTLY IMPACTING AGRICULTURE. THE TOPICS CAN RANGE FROM TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCES TO SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS CURRENTLY FACING THE AGRICULTURAL INDUSTRY. OUR GOAL IS TO CONTINUE TO HELP SERVICE THE NEXT GENERATION OF FARMERS AND RANCHERS WORKING FOR THE BETTERMENT OF AGRICULTURE IN FLORIDA.
OKEECHOBEE COUNTY FARM BUREAU PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS TO LEARN ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF AGRICULTRE IN OUR COMMUNITY. WE PROVIDE HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS WHO MAJOR IN AN AGRICULTURE RELATED PROGRAM WITH SCHOLARSHIPS.
FARM CITY WEEK IS A CELEBRATED THE WEEK BEFORE THANKSGIVING. DURING THE VARIOUS EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE WEEK THE PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN FARMERS AND THEIR COMMUNITIES IS SPOTLIGHTED. FRESH FROM FLORIDA AND LOCALLY GROWN FOODS ARE A MAJOR FOCUS OF THE EVENTS WHERE CONSUMERS GET TO INTERACT WITH FARMERS IN THEIR COMMUNITIES.
