COLUMBIA COUNTY FARM BUREAU CREATED A LEADERSHIP ACADEMY WHOSE PURPOSE IS TO FOSTER A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN 4H AND FFA STUDENTS AND THE FARM BUREAU. THE PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS LOCAL, STATE, AND NATIONAL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT, AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS THAT EXIST BETWEEN THE AGRICULTURAL COMMUNITIES AND OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS. THE ACADEMY ALSO FOSTERS A STRONG PRESENCE IN AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITES IN COLUMBIA COUNTY.


AGRICULTURES TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCES AND DIVERSITY ALLOW STUDENTS WHO MAJOR IN AGRICULTURE IN A POST SECONDARY INSTITUTION OPPORTUNITIES TO PRESERVE, STUDY, AND MANAGE MANY FORMS OF NATURAL RESOURCES. STUDENTS MAY ALSO LEARN ABOUT BUSINESS STRATEGIES, HOW TO MANAGE PEOPLE, OR HOW TO MANAGE A FARMING OPERATION. COLUMBIA COUNTY FARM BUREAU RECOGNIZES THE NEED TO CONTINUE TO FOSTER AND SUPPORT STUDENTS THEREFORE WE PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS TO GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO EXPRESS AN INTEREST IN MAJORING IN AN AG RELATED FIELD.


COLUMBIA COUNTY FARM BUREAU HOSTED SEVERAL EVENTS WHERE LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL REPRESENTATIVES WERE ABLE TO MEET WITH MEMBERS TO DISCUSS ISSUES IMPACTING AGRICULTURE. THESE EVENTS HELP MEMBERS EDUCATE ELECTED OFFICIALS HOW PROPOSED LEGISLATIONS IMPACT AGRICULTURE AND HOW THEY CAN ALL WORK TOGETHER TOWARDS THE BETTERMENT OF AGRICULTURE.
