IN AN EFFORT TO DEVELOP OUTSTANDING YOUTH WE FOSTER AND ENCOURAGE YOUTH INVOLVEMENT IN AGRICULTURE THROUGH OUR FFA LEADERSHIP PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM HELPS STUDENTS DEVELOP THEIR ABILITIES TO THINK CRITICALLY, COMMUNICATE CLEARLY AND PERFORM EFFECTIVELY. THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS TO DISCOVER AND DEVELOP THEIR UNIQUE TALENTS WHILE LEARNING ABOUT AGRICULTURE.
WE PROMOTE THE BETTERMENT OF AGRICULTURE THROUGH HANDS ON EXPERIENCE FOR OUR YOUTH AT THE PANHANDLE YOUTH EXPO AND FEED CATTLE SHOW. STUDENTS ARE TAUGHT DISCIPLINE, PATIENCE, AND HOW TO CARE FOR LIVESTOCK WHILE THEY PREPARE THEM FOR EXHIBITS. THESE YOUTH FAIRS EMPHASIZE THE CORRECT HUMANE HANDLING OF LIVESTOCK AND TEACH THE BUSINESS VALUE OF AGRICULTURE.
THIS YEAR'S FARM CITY WEEK WAS DEDICATED TO RAISING AWARENESS TO THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF AGRICULTURE IN OUR COMMUNITY. WE USED THIS OPPORTUNITY TO INCREASE UNDERSTANDING, COOPERATION AND RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN RURAL AND URBAN RESIDENTS. WE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE OUTSTANDING CITIZENS WHO PROMOTE THE BETTERMENT OF AGRICULTURE. THE AWARDS INCLUDED THE FARM FAMILY OF THE YEAR AND CARES. CARES RECOGNIZES FARMERS AND RANCHERS WHO PRACTICE BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES TO PRESERVE OUR ENVIRONMENT FOR THE NEXT GENERATION.
