THE MISSISSIPPI ORGAN RECOVERY AGENCY (MORA) WORKED TO GENERATE AWARENESS AND INCREASE DONOR AUTHORIZATIONS IN MISSISSIPPI'S DONOR REGISTRY THROUGH THE MS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, MS DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE, FISHERIES AND PARKS, AND REGISTERME.ORG. ONE DONATE LIFE MS STATE TEAM MEETING WITH MID-SOUTH TRANSPLANT FOUNDATION & MISSISSIPPI DPS.NATIONAL DONATE LIFE MONTH (NDLM) ACTIVITIES DURING APRIL 2023: - DONATE LIFE FLAG-RAISING CEREMONIES AT HOSPITALS IN RECOGNITION OF SPECIAL DATES AND IN HONOR OF LIFE-SAVING ORGAN AND TISSUE DONATIONS. - THE BILOXI LIGHTHOUSE WAS LIT UP FOR BLUE & GREEN DAY. - PARTICIPATED IN THE SOUTH JACKSON NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION PARADE AND HEALTH FAIR. - RACING FOR DONATION 8K & 5K RACE.MAJOR EVENTS HOSTED BY MORA: - HERO 100 BIKE RIDE WAS HELD ON MARCH 4, 2023, TO RAISE AWARENESS ON THE MS COAST FOR ORGAN, EYE, AND TISSUE DONATION. - THE 10TH ANNUAL SPERO AWARDS PROGRAM WAS HELD TO RECOGNIZE HOSPITAL PARTNERS, MEDICAL PERSONNEL, DONOR ADVOCATES, AND CORPORATE PARTNERS THAT HELP TO PROMOTE THE NEED FOR ORGAN, EYE, AND TISSUE DONATION. - 2023 DONOR FAMILY RECOGNITION CEREMONIES IN HATTIESBURG, BILOXI, FLOWOOD, AND TUPELO THAT FEATURED HANDMADE ORNAMENTS AND PHOTOS HONORING THEIR LOVED ONES. - MAN UP AND DONATE (MUD) IS AN EVENT HELD IN JUNE THAT FOCUSED ON MEN'S HEALTH AND THE NEED FOR MEN, SPECIFICALLY AFRICAN-AMERICAN MALES, TO REGISTER TO BE DONORS. - DURING THE CALENDAR YEAR OF 2023, MORA STAFF COMPLETED APPROXIMATELY 1500 HOURS WORKING ON FUNDRAISING EVENTS THAT INCLUDED THE HERO 100 BIKE RIDE AND RACING FOR DONATION 8K/5K.
