TEXARKANA RESOURCES FOR THE DISABLED, INC. IS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT TRAINS INDIVIDUALS WITH A DEVELPMENTAL DISBILITY IN GENERAL WORK SKILLS IN AN EFFORT TO PREPARE THEM FOR COMPETITVE EMPLOYMENT.

SUPPORTIVE LIVING AND ADULT DEVELOPMENT- TEXARKANA RESOURCES OPERATES A COMMUNITY LIVING HOME AND APARTMENT COMPLEX FOR ADULTS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY AGES 18 AND OLDER. INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS TRAINING IS PROVIDED TO TEACH INDIVIDUAL DAILY LIVING SKILLS, WHICH ENABLE THE INDIVIDUALS TO LIVE AS INDEPENDENTLY AS POSSIBLE. TEXARKANA RESOURCES ALSO HAS A COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAM FOR ELIGIBLE PERSONS WITH A DISABILITY IN A VOCATIONAL SETTING. THE PROGRAM TEACHES BOTH PREVOCATIONAL SKILLS AND PROVIDES VOCATIONAL TRAINING WHICH FOCUSES ON INSTRUCITON, REQUESTING ASSISTANCE, QUALITY CONTROL, MEETING GOALS, ATTENDANCE, PUNCTUALITY, AND ACCEPTING AUTHORITY. TRAINING ALSO INCLUDES LIVING SKILLS SUCH AS HOW TO HANDLE MONEY, TIME, READING, MATH, GROOMING, AND SELF-HELP SKILLS.
