THE MARIETTA PILGRIMAGE, HELD THE FIRST WEEK OF DECEMBER, WHICH COBB LANDMARKS CO-SPONSORS THE EVENT WITH THE MARIETTA WELCOME CENTER. THE PILGRIMAGE IS A TOUR OF HOMES IN ONE OF THE FIVE NATIONAL REGISTER DISTRICTS IN MARIETTA.
WILLIAM ROOT HOUSE AND THE POWER CABIN WERE RESTORED AND ARE USED TO TEACH RESIDENTS, SCHOOL CHILDREN, AND TOURISTS ABOUT LIFE IN A MIDDLE-CLASS URBAN HOME IN THE 1850'S AND LIFE ON A RURAL FARMSTEAD IN THE MID 1800'S. THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY, TOURISTS, AND SCHOOL CHILDREN WILL BENEFIT FROM THE PROJECT.
