LOCATED IN A HIGH BLUFF ON THE WEST BANK OF THE CAPE FEAR RIVER, THE SITE IS FOURTEEN MILES FROM THE BAR WHERE THE CAPE FEAR AND THE ATLANTIC MEET.. VISITORS MAY STROLL THROUGH HISTORY FROM THE 1720'S TO THE 1860'S, FROM THE EXCAVATED COLONIAL TOWN TO A FORMIDABLE ABANDONED CONFEDERATE CIVIL WAR FORT. THE FRIENDS OF BRUNSWICK TOWN/FORT ANDERSON ACHIEVED ITS MISSION TO SUPPORT THE STAFF OF BRUNSWICK TOWN/FORT ANDERSON STATE HISTORIC SITE BY HOLDING A VARIETY OF TOURS AND EVENTS ON SITE, RAISING FUNDS FOR SITE IMPROVEMENTS AND PROVIDING VOLUNTEER STAFFING AT THE SITE. COLONIAL HERITAGE DAY AND 18TH CENTURY CHRISTMAS ARE EXAMPLES OF EVENTS HELD ON SITE.
