TO DATE WE HAVE GIVEN 1,949 NON-RESTRICTED NON-TUITION SCHOLAR GRANTS TO 1,149 WOMEN TOTALING $3,899,684. JEANNETTE RANKIN SCHOLARS ARE ABLE TO LEVERAGE THE SCHOLAR GRANT, USING IT TO FILL IN THE GAPS FOR EXPENSES NOT COVERED BY OTHER FUNDING INCLUDING BOOKS, CHILDCARE, HOUSING EXPENSE, AND CAR REPAIRS. ACCORDING TO THE INSTITUTE FOR WOMEN'S POLICY RESEARCH (IWPR) THE USA WOULD GET A RETURN OF $5.05 FOR EVERY DOLLAR SPENT ON PROVIDING ADDITIONAL FINANCIAL AID TO SINGLE MOTHERS. THE RETURN ON INVESTMENT OF THIS YEAR'S SCHOLAR GRANT FUNDS WOULD BE $1,783,837. WE AWARDED A TOTAL OF 135 FULL $2,500 SCHOLARSHIPS IN 2021/22, WITH THE BALANCE DISBURSED IN EMERGENCY FUNDS AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION SUPPORT.
ACCORDING TO THE INSTITUTE FOR WOMEN'S POLICY RESEARCH (IWPR) EVERY DOLLAR INVESTED IN CASE MANAGEMENT AND COACHING WOULD PROVIDE A RETURN OF $5.48 FOR EACH DOLLAR SPENT. OUR PROGRAM TEAM SPENDS 50 HOURS EACH WEEK IN PROVIDING CASE MANAGEMENT AND COACHING CREATING A RETURN OF $712,400 RETURN ON INVESTMENT ($130,000 X $5.48 = $712,400). WE PROVIDE A SCHOLAR RESOURCE NETWORK, ESSENTIALLY AN EAP PROGRAM FOR SCHOLARS. SEVENTY-FIVE PERCENT OF RANKIN FOUNDATION SCHOLARS ARE SINGLE HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD. SIXTY-FIVE PERCENT OF RANKIN SCHOLARS ARE SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. FIFTY-SIX PERCENT ARE THE FIRST IN THEIR FAMILY TO GO TO COLLEGE.
