PUBLIC PERFORMANCE PROGRAMTHE MAHAIWE IS A YEAR-ROUND PERFORMING ARTS CENTER PRESENTING A BROAD RANGE OF HIGH QUALITY PROGRAMS IN MUSIC, DANCE, THEATER, OPERA, FILMS AND LECTURES, BOTH LIVE AND ON SCREEN, AT TICKET PRICES AFFORDABLE TO OUR COMMUNITY. THE MAHAIWE TYPICALLY SERVES BETWEEN 35,000 - 40,000 PATRONS ANNUALLY, WITH APPROXIMATELY 140 PROGRAMS EACH YEAR. THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUED OFFERING VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING DURING THE FIRST HALF OF 2021, WHEN THE THEATER WAS CLOSED DUE TO COVID-19; AND RETURNED TO LIVE PROGRAMMING MID-YEAR.
EDUCATION PROGRAMTHE MAHAIWE OFFERS WORLD-CLASS THEATRICAL EXPERIENCES TO STUDENTS FROM THROUGHOUT THE TRI-STATE REGION. WE PROVIDE BOTH IN-SCHOOL WORKSHOPS AND RESIDENCIES, AND LIVE PERFORMANCES OF DANCE, THEATER, AND MUSIC AT THE THEATER AS FIELD TRIP EVENTS. THIS PROGRAM ANNUALLY SERVES APPROXIMATELY 3,000 STUDENTS, FROM MORE THAN A DOZEN SCHOOLS, OFTEN PROVIDING THEIR FIRST EXPERIENCES OF LIVE PROFESSIONAL PERFORMING ARTS. DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS, THE ORGANIZATION HAS NOT YET RETURNED TO LIVE IN-PERSON PROGRAMMING FOR STUDENTS, BUT CONTINUES TO OFFER VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING.
