SAFY OF SC HAS AN AWARD FROM THE SC DEPT OF SOCIAL SERVICES TO PROVIDE COMMUNITY-BASED PREVENTION SERVICES (CBPS) TO STRENGTHEN NATURAL SUPPORT SYSTEMS WITHIN FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES. THIS ALLOWS SAFY OF SC TO EXPAND SERVICE LINES TO INCLUDE COMMUNITY OUTREACH/ENGAGEMENT IN ORDER TO BUILD SUSTAINABILITY OF OUTCOMES. SAFY OF SC SERVES AS THE SOLE STATEWIDE NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR ESTABLISHING THE SAFY FAMILIES NETWORK TO BUILD PARTNERSHIPS WITH PROVIDING AGENCIES AND IMPLEMENT DECISIONS INVOLVING MANAGEMENT AND DELIVERY OF SERVICES. THE STRENGTHENING FAMILIES PROGRAM IS A 14-SESSION FAMILY SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAM DESIGNED TO INCREASE RESILIENCE AND REDUCE RISK FACTORS FOR SUBSTANCE ABUSE, DEPRESSION, VIOLENCE AND AGGRESSION, DELINQUENCY, AND SCHOOL FAILURE IN HIGH-RISK, 6 TO 11 YEAR-OLD CHILDREN & THEIR PARENTS.
SAFY OF SOUTH CAROLINA PROVIDES THERAPEUTIC/TREATMENT FOSTER CARE TO CHILDREN WHO EXPERIENCE TRAUMA AND ARE REMOVED FROM FAMILY VIA COURT ACTION. SAFY RECRUITS AND TRAINS FOSTER FAMILIES TO PROVIDE SAFE AND STABLE ENVIRONMENTS WHILE ADDRESSING THE EMOTIONAL AND BEHAVIORAL NEEDS OF THE CHILD AND MAKE POSITIVE CHANGES IN THEIR LIVES. OUR OVERALL GOAL IS TO ASSIST CHILDREN ACHIEVE PERMANANCY.
