THE MISSION OF UNITED WAY ASSOCIATION OF SOUTH CAROLINA IS TO MAXIMIZE THE CAPACITY AND EFFECTIVENESS OF LOCAL UNITED WAYS AND TO PROVIDE LEADERSHIP ON ISSUES OF SIGNIFICANCE TO THE UNITED WAY SYSTEM.

UNITED WAY ASSOCIATION OF SOUTH CAROLINA CONTINUED OUR WORK TO IMPROVE THE LIVES AND WELL-BEING OF SOUTH CAROLINA RESIDENTS IN 2023. RESOURCES AND INITIATIVES UNDERWAY IN THE ORGANIZATION INCLUDE VARIOUS GRANTS AND INITIATIVES TO PROMOTE QUALITY CHILDCARE POLICY, HOUSING ASSISTANCE FUNDING AND SERVICE COORDINATION. THIS IS IN ADDITION TO OUR CORE WORK AS A MEMBER SERVICES ORGANIZATION FACILITATING AND IMPROVING THE OPERATIONS OF OUR 25 LOCAL UNITED WAY CHAPTERS SERVED IN THE STATE.
THE SC SERVICE COMMISSION AWARDED FUNDING TO AMERICORPS PROGRAMS. THESE PROGRAMS WILL PROVIDE SERVICES IN THE AREAS OF EDUCATION, FINANCIAL STABILITY, ENVIRONMENT, AND DISASTER RECOVERY. THE COMMISSION RECEIVED FUNDING FOR A PLANNING GRANT TO IDENTIFY AND ASSIST ORGANIZATIONS IN DEVELOPING A PROGRAM AROUND SAFER COMMUNITIES BY CONNECTING LAW ENFORCEMENT AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS.
SC 2-1-1 PROVIDES A SINGLE POINT OF ACCESS FOR PEOPLE IN NEED AND FACILITATING FINDING RESOURCES MORE EFFICIENTLY. FURTHER, SC 2-1-1 PROVIDES FOR EASIER, MORE EFFICIENT HANDLING OF NEEDS BY SERVING AS A LIAISON TO SCREEN AND DIRECT PEOPLE IN NEED TO THE PROPER RESOURCES AND MAKING THE HANDLING OF CASES EASIER AND MORE EFFICIENT FOR THE AGENCIES PROVIDING THE RESOURCES.
