TO PROMOTE AND SUPPORT SUCCESSFUL AGING BY PROVIDING DIRECT SERVICES, VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AND ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS FOR OLDER ADULTS. DURING 2022,7,700 PERSONS WERE SERVED THROUGH THE FAITH IN ACTION CARE AND VITAL LIVING SENIOR CENTER PROGRAM AREAS.

FAITH IN ACTION CARE PROGRAM - 22,467 SERVICE REQUESTS WERE RECEIVED FROM 3,822 OLDER ADULTS FOR TRANSPORTATION TO MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS AND GROCERY SHOPPING (15,584 REQUESTS; 2,199 INDIVIDUALS), MINOR HOME REPAIR (953 REQUESTS; 523 INDIVIDUALS), VISITATION AND RESPITE CARE (5,422 REQUESTS; 738 INDIVIDUALS), THE SATURDAY NIGHT FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM OFFERED IN COLLABORATION WITH OVER 15 CONGREGATIONS (110 INDIVIDUALS), AND THE FAMILY CAREGIVER TRAINING (POWERFUL TOOLS FOR CAREGIVERS) WHICH HAD 177 REQUESTS FROM 64 INDIVIDUALS. THE PROGRAM ALSO COORDINATED THE COALITION OF MINISTRIES WITH OLDER ADULTS WHICH BRINGS TOGETHER REPRESENTATIVES OF CONGREGATIONS AND AGENCIES SERVING OLDER ADULTS WHICH MEETS MONTHLY FOR NETWORKING AND EDUCATION.


VITAL LIVING SENIOR CENTER PROGRAM - ATTENDANCE OF 42,069 WAS RECORDED FOR 3,822 OLDER ADULTS WHO PARTICIPATE IN EXERCISE CLASSES, HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROGRAMS, GAMES (BRIDGE, ETC.), SUPPORT GROUPS AND FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITIES. OVER 50 ACTIVITIES AND VIRTUAL EVENTS WERE HELD EACH WEEK IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY. THE PROGRAM ALSO OFFERS DISCUSSION GROUPS, DAY TRIPS, AND EXTENSIVE LIFE-LONG LEARNING PROGRAMS HELD THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. INSURANCE COUNSELING THROUGH THE N. C. SENIORS' HEALTH INSURANCE INFORMATION PROGRAM (SHIIP) SERVED 1,185 INDIVIDUALS. COMPUTER CLASSES AS WELL ASONE-ON-ONE COMPUTER AND TECHNOLOGY ASSISTANCE ARE ALSO PROVIDED THROUGH THE PROGRAM.
