SEEKING TO PUT GOD'S LOVE INTO ACTION, ASHEVILLE AREA HABITAT FOR HUMANITY BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER TO BUILD HOMES, COMMUNITIES AND HOPE.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
THE ORGANIZATION BUILDS, SELLS AND REPAIRS HOMES FOR FAMILIES IN NEED. CONSTRUCTION AND THE SALE OF 12 HOMES WERE COMPLETED DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2021. PERSONS SERVED TOTALED 18 ADULTS AND 21 CHILDREN. OF THESE HOMES, 8 WERE HEADED BY FEMALES AND 1 HOME WAS PURCHASED BY A CAUCASION MARRIED COUPLE. 0 HOMES (0%) OF THE FAMILIES WERE BELOW 25% OF THE AREA MEDIAN INCOME, 4 HOMES (33%) WERE BELOW 50% OF THE AREA MEDIAN INCOME AND 8 HOMES (67%) WERE BELOW 70% OF THE AREA MEDIAN INCOME. 7 FAMILIES HAD AFRICAN-AMERICAN MEMBERS, 1 HAD ASIAN-AMERICAN MEMBERS AND 1 HOME WAS HEADED BY A SINGLE PARENT. A NEW "AGING-IN-PLACE" HOME STYLE WITH ACCESSIBILITY FEATURES GEARED TOWARD AGING SENIORS WAS ADDED THIS YEAR TO ACCOMODATE THE NEED FOR OLDER ADULTS.THE ORGANIZATION ALSO PRESERVED EXISTING HOMES THROUGH THE REPAIR OF 48 HOMES. THIS INCLUDES THE HOMES OF 8 VETERANS, 42 ELDERLY AND 39 FAMILIES HEADED BY FEMALES. 10 HOUSEHOLDS WERE BELOW 25% OF THE AREA MEDIAN INCOME, 29 WERE BETWEEN 25%-50% OF THE AREA MEDIAN INCOME AND 9 HOUSEHOLDS WERE BETWEEN 50%-70% OF THE AREA MEDIAN INCOME. FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 408 VOLUNTEERS DONATED 23,953 HOURS OF TIME. THIS WAS A DROP DUE TO COVID-19.
