ALL OTHER EXPENSES TO FULFIL THE ORGANIZATIONS MISSION
ONE COUNTY, MANY VOICES MURAL PROJECTGASTON ARTS COUNCIL, GASTON COUNTY SCHOOLS, ARTIST BREE STALLINGS DESCRIPTION: GASTON COUNTY SCHOOL STUDENTS WORKED UNDER THE ADVISEMENT OF PROFESSIONAL MURALIST, BREE STALLINGS, TO LEARN ABOUT THE HISTORY AND IMPACT OF PUBLIC ART. ARTIST BREE STALLINGS MET VIRTUALLY IN A SERIES OF CLASSES TO ADVISE, ENCOURAGE AND MENTOR STUDENTS THROUGH THE CREATION PROCESS. THE END PRODUCT WAS A MURAL DESIGNED AND PRODUCED BY EACH PARTICIPATING CLASS. EACH HIGH SCHOOL WAS ASSIGNED A THEME AND PROVIDED WITH SUPPLIES TO PRODUCE A MURAL THAT WAS THEN EXHIBITED AT THE MUSEUM.
REVERSE LANTERN PARADEGASTON COUNTY MUSEUM UTILIZED GRANT FUNDING FROM THE GASTON COMMUNITY FOUNDATION TO ENGAGE 8 SCHOOLS AND 416 STUDENTS RANGING FROM ELEMENTARY TO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN THE ART OF MAKING PAPER SCULPTURE LANTERNS. THE LANTERNS WERE THEN GATHERED TOGETHER WITH LANTERNS PRODUCED BY PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS AND DISPLAYED IN A REVERSE LANTERN PARADE AT TUCKASEEGEE PARK IN MOUNT HOLLY. STUDENTS AND THE PUBLIC HAD TIMED SLOTS TO VIEW THE LANTERNS WHILE SOCIAL DISTANCING.
