BY THE END OF FY 21-22, THE PERMANENT GALLERY WAS FULLY REFRESHED AND EXPANDED TO INCLUDE A 20TH CENTURY CASE. TWO FREE SPECIAL EXHIBITS HAVE BEEN MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC, 'DATE NIGHT: ORANGE COUNTY FASHION, FOOD, MUSIC & FUN', AND 'WHAT'S YOUR FLAVOR?!'. IN THE FALL OF 2021, A FREE PROGRAM FEATURING A NON-STAFF MEMBER WAS PRESENTED TO THE PUBLIC RELATED TO 'DATE NIGHT' ('DATE NIGHT' HAD 2 OTHER PROGRAMS WHICH OCCURRED IN FY 20-21). ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS INCLUDED TRADING PATH TALKS HELD IN LATE 2021, AND VARIOUS OTHERS FOR EARLY 2022 RELATED TO THE PERMANENT EXHIBIT. A FAMILY-CENTERED GALLERY WAS CREATED IN EARLY 2022, AND OFFERED EDUCATIONAL DISPLAYS, HANDLING ARTIFACTS, AND THEMED ACTIVITIES (TO BE FURTHER DEVELOPED DURING EARLY FY22-23 AND BEYOND, MAKING THE MUSEUM THE ONLY LOCATION IN ORANGE COUNTY TO OFFER PERMANENT HISTORY THEMED LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR CHILDREN). THE CHAPEL HILL HISTORICAL SOCIETY INSTALLED THEIR FIRST PIECES IN EARLY 2022 THROUGH A NEW PARTNERSHIP. BY THE END OF FY 21-22, THE MUSEUM PARTICIPATED IN MORE THAN 6 COLLABORATIVE EVENTS, INCLUDING: LAST FRIDAY ART WALKS, OCPL STORYBOOK WALK SUMMER OF 2021, COLLABORATION ON A WALKING TOUR WITH THE ALLIANCE CONNECTED TO OUR 'DATE NIGHT' EXHIBIT, MERCHANT TRICK OR TREATING, PARTICIPATION IN THE HOLIDAY PARADE AND WREATH WALK, PROVIDING CRAFTS FOR THE SOLSTICE LANTERN WALK OF 2021, REV WAR LIVING HISTORY DAY IN EARLY 2022, AND THE HISTORICAL HILLSBOROUGH WEEKEND PLANNED FOR JUNE OF 2022. IN ALL, 9 LESSON PLANS CONNECTED TO THE SPECIAL EXHIBITS 'YÉSAH AND 'DATE NIGHT' WERE CREATED AND PROVIDED FOR FREE. IN PARTICULAR, THE 'YESAH' ACTIVITIES WERE SHARED WIDELY WITH ORANGE COUNTY AND HOMESCHOOL CONTACTS. 8 TOURS WERE CONDUCTED, INCLUDING 3 SCHOOL GROUPS. 286 INDIVIDUALS WERE SERVED THROUGH THESE TOURS. ON-SITE, A SCAVENGER HUNT WAS CREATED FOR 'YÉSAH', AND THREE INTERACTIVE ELEMENTS WERE CONTINUOUSLY OFFERED IN THE 'DATE NIGHT' EXHIBIT. ADDITIONALLY, TWO CHILDREN'S ACTIVITY BOOKLETS WERE MADE, AND SATURDAY MORNING CRAFTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE GALLERIES AND HISTORICAL CONCEPTS WERE OFFERED. THESE INCREASED OPPORTUNITIES FOR CHILDREN TO IMPROVE THEIR EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES.
