THE BEEF COUNCIL PROGRAM WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1989 TO ADMINISTER THE ACTIVITY OF THE BEEF CHECKOFF PROGRAM UNDER THE BEEF PROMOTION AND RESEARCH ACT. THIS IS A GOVERNMENT PROGRAM THAT COLLECTS A FEE FROM EACH ANIMAL SOLD. THE FUNDING IS USED FOR NATION-WIDE AND LOCAL PROMOTION AND RESEARCH FOR THE BEEF INDUSTRY.
THE STATE ASSESSMENT PROGRAM WAS ESTABLISHED IN 2010 TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR BOARD APPROVED PROGRAM EXPENSES WHICH FURTHER BEEF INDUSTRY INTERESTS IN EDUCATION, YOUTH, ISSUES MANAGEMENT, PROMOTION, RESEARCH, AND OTHER MISCELLANEOUS AREAS.
A MONTHLY NEWSPAPER IS MAILED TO ALL MEMBERS DETAILING ISSUES PERTINENT TO THE INDUSTRY. THE "CAROLINA CATTLE CONNECTION" ADDRESSES ISSUES SUCH AS ANIMAL HEALTH, MARKETING, AS WELL AS, ORGANIZATION AND INDUSTRY NEWS.
