WE HOSTED A BAND COMPETITION WHEREIN BANDS FROM A 50 MILE RADIUS BROUGHT THEIR BAND(S) TO SHOWCASE THEIR BEST MARCHING BAND PERFORMANCE. A TOTAL OF 15 BANDS AND THEIR ENTOURAGE, WITH AN ADDITIONAL OVER 2,500 PEOPLE TO VIEW THE VARIOUS PERFORMANCES, BROUGHT THE BEST OF THE BEST OF THE MARCHING BANDS. OUR BAND MEMBERS, ALONG WITH OVER 150 VOLUNTEERS SERVICED THE ONE-DAY EVENT. ATTENDEES, AFTER PAYING THE ENTRANCE FEE, CAN ENJOY THE BANDS, CONCESSIONS, VENDORS, AND THE MERCHANDISE SOLD AT THE WARRIOR CLASSIC COMPETITION.

THE BAND STUDENTS FROM OUR SYMPHONIC, CONCERT, AND JAZZ BANDS, PARTICIPATED IN THE VIRGINIA BAND AND ORCHESTRA DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION (VBODA) PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENTS. VBODA BRINGS IN JUDGES TO RATE EACH BAND ON A LIST OF CRITERIA. THESE THEN TRANSLATE INTO A RANK OF 1 (SUPERIOR), 2 (AVERAGE), OR 3 (INFERIOR). THE SYMPHONIC BAND RECEIVED A 1; CONCERT BAND RECEIVED A 1; AND THE JAZZ BAND RECEIVED A 2. WE ARE SUPER PROUD OF OUR BAND STUDENTS AND REWARDED THEM WITH FOOD FROM CHICK-FIL-A AS A REWARD FOR THEIR HARD WORK AND DEDICATION.

AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR, THE ASSOCIATION HOSTS A BAND BANQUET RECOGNIZING THE STUDENTS FOR THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THE DRUM MAJOR, CAPTAINS, AND SECTION LEADERS, ARE HELD UP AN THE EXAMPLE FOR ALL BAND STUDENTS AND GIVEN TOKENS OF THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS. THE BAND DIRECTOR IS APPRECIATED AND DUE RESPECT IS GIVEN TO HIM FOR ALL OF HIS HARD WORK AND DEDICATION.
