THE MISSION OF SUGAR PLUM BAKERY, INC., A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION, IS TO SERVE THE NEEDS OF INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES THROUGH EMPLOYMENT, TRAINING AND EDUCATION. SUGAR PLUM PROMOTES THE INTEGRATION OF PERSONS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES INTO SOCIETY BY HELPING THEM BECOME INDEPENDENT AND EVOLVE INTO WORKING CONTRIBUTING MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITIES.

BAKERY PROGRAM: THE BAKERY PROGRAM PROVIDES EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND EMPLOYMENT TRAINING SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. INDIVIDUALS ARE EMPLOYED AS FOOD SERVICE AND PRODUCTION WORKERS IN THE BAKERY AND MAINTAIN QUALITY STANDARDS WITH SUPPORTS FROM JOB COACHES, JOB SPECIALISTS AND STAFF EMPLOYED BY THE BAKERY.
(OTHER PROGRAMS) - THE CORPORATION IS CONTRACTED WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF AGING AND REHABILITATIVE SERVICES (DARS) TO PROVIDE INDIVIDUAL EMPLOYMENT PLACEMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN THE COMMUNITY. SINCE 1987, THE CORPORATION HAS BEEN PROMOTING INTEGRATION OF ADULTS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES BY PROVIDING EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES. THE CORPORATION STRIVES TO INCREASE COMMUNITY AWARENESS OF THE WORTH OF PEOPLE WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AND WORKS TO CHANGE THE PERCEPTION OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. THE CORPORATION OFFERS INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT SERVICES FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO RECEIVE DARS SERVICES OR MEDICAID WAIVER. THE CORPORATION HAS CREATED A THRIVING AND UNIQUE BUSINESS MODEL WHERE PEOPLE WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES SUCCESSFULLY WORK ALONGSIDE THEIR NON- DISABLED COWORKERS PROVING THAT THIS POPULATION CAN BE AN ESSENTIAL PART OF A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS. JOB SPECIALISTS PROVIDE EMPLOYMENT TRAINING AND ONGOING SUPPORT TO INDIVIDUALS EMPLOYED IN THE COMMUNITY. JOB COACHES PROVIDE ONGOING EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT TO INDIVIDUALS WORKING AT SUGAR PLUM.
