LABOR AND COLLECTIVE BARGAINING ASSISTANCE - IAFF PROVIDES LABOR RELATION ASSISTANCE RELATED TO COLLECTIVE BARGAINING INCLUDING FINANCIAL ANALYSIS, WAGE COMPARABLES, COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT ANALYSIS, AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FOR NEGOTIATION AND ARBITRATION. ADDITIONALLY, IAFF STAFF IS TRAINED TO ANSWER QUESTIONS REGARDING THE FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT, EMPLOYEE HEALTH AND PENSION BENEFITS, AND CONDUCT ANALYSIS OF COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENTS.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING - THE IAFF PROVIDED EDUCATION AND TRAINING SERVICES TO ENCOURAGE ITS MEMBERS TO CONTINUOUSLY BUILD THEIR SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE IN THEIR ROLES AS FIRE FIGHTERS, PARAMEDICS, AND UNION LEADERS. MEMBERS HAVE ACCESS TO IAFF EDUCATION AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES ON A WIDE ARRAY OF TOPICS. THE IAFF ALSO PROVIDES ACCESS TO ONLINE LEARNING RESOURCES AS WELL AS INFORMATION ABOUT HANDS-ON TRAINING, CLASSROOM EDUCATION, SELF-PACED STUDY, INSTRUCTIONAL CONFERENCES, SCHOLASHIPS, AND MORE.
HEALTH AND SAFETY - IAFF DEVELOPS AND ENCOURAGES PROGRAMS TO INCORPORATE SAFE PRACTICES INTO THE FIRE FIGHTING INDUSTRY. THROUGH VARIOUS PROGRAMS AND OUTLETS SUCH AS THE NEAR-MISS REPORTING SYSTEM, FACT SHEET SUPPORT, PRESUMPTIVE HEALTH INITIATIVES, AND DISTRIBUTION OF SAFETY ALERTS, THE IAFF IS DEDICATED TO PROVIDE FIRE FIGHTERS AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL RESPONDERS WITH THE MOST CURRENT INFOMRATION ON HOW THE WORK ENVIRONMENT AFFECTS THEIR HEALTH.
