COMMITTEES AND FORUMS: THE ASSOCIATION'S 25+ COMMITTEES AND FORUMS PRESENT SUBSTANTIVE PROGRAMMING YEAR-ROUND. TOPICS INCLUDE PRACTICE-AREA FOCUS, PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL SKILL DEVELOPMENT, INDUSTRY UPDATES AFFECTING THE WAY LAW IS PRACTICED AND MORE. THE ASSOCIATION ALSO OFFERS NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS TO GATHER WITH OTHER PRACTICIONERS IN THE FIELD.


ADVOCACY: THE ASSOCIATION SEEKS TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT ISSUES OF SPECIAL INTEREST TO WOMEN, AND FREQUENTLY USES ITS VOICE AS ONE OF THE OLDEST AND LARGEST VOLUNTARY BAR ASSOCIATIONS IN METROPOLITAN WASHINGTON, DC TO ADVOCATE ON BEHALF OF THEM. THIS INCLUDES RELEASING ISSUE STATEMENTS, CURATING THE "DISCUSSING RACISM & BEING ANTI-RACIST TOOLKIT", AND SIGNING ON TO AMICUS BRIEFS THAT SUPPORT ISSUES OF SPECIAL INTEREST TO WOMEN.


SHOWCASE AND ANNUAL DINNER EVENTS: SHOWCASE PROGRAMS APPEAL TO THE WIDE AUDIENCE OF WOMEN IN LAW. THESE EVENTS INCLUDE STARS OF THE BAR, PRESIDENTIAL APPOINTMENTS PANEL, US SUPREME COURT SWEARING IN AND MORE. THE WOMEN LAWYER OF THE YEAR AWARD IS PRESENTED AT THE ANNUAL DINNER, WHICH IS HELD IN MAY.


EXECUTIVE & JUDICIAL ENDORSEMENTS: THE WBA'S PRINCIPAL GOAL IN ENDORSING CANDIDATES FOR JUDGESHIPS IS TO ENSURE THE APPOINTMENT OF QUALIFIED JUDGES TO BOTH LOCAL AND FEDERAL COURTS IN THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. CONSISTENT WITH THAT GOAL, WE ALSO SEEK TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF WOMEN OCCUPYING JUDGESHIPS IN THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA AND FEDERAL COURTS. WE ENDORSE CANDIDATES WHO HAVE DEMONSTRATED A COMMITMENT TO EQUALITY OF ALL LITIGANTS BEFORE THE COURTS AND WHO HAVE BEEN RESPONSIVE TO WOMEN'S NEEDS AND CONCERNS.
