THE SARCOMA FOUNDATION OF AMERICA (SFA) COORDINATES A NATIONAL RESEARCH GRANT PROGRAM THAT FUNDS TRANSLATIONAL SCIENCE SARCOMA RESEARCH. IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MISSION OF THE SFA, RESEARCH INVOLVING THE DEVELOPMENT OF NOVEL AGENTS AGAINST SARCOMA, OR RESEARCH THAT COULD POTENTIALLY LEAD TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF NOVEL AGENTS AGAINST SARCOMA, IS SUPPORTED THROUGH THIS FUNDING. THE SFA ENGAGES IN PATIENT EDUCATION PROGRAMS ON THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS IN SARCOMA RESEARCH AND TREATMENTS. THESE EDUCATION INITIATIVES ARE DESIGNED TO FURTHER STRENGTHEN AND DEEPEN PATIENTS' ABILITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THEIR CARE AND RESEARCH PROJECTS. SFA ALSO CONDUCTS ADVOCACY ACTIVITIES ON BEHALF OF THE SARCOMA COMMUNITY TO ENSURE ADEQUATE FEDERAL CANCER RESEARCH FUNDING LEVELS AND POLICIES THAT POSITIVELY IMPACT SARCOMA PATIENTS.
