SEE SCHEDULE O FOR DESCRIPTION OF ORGANIZATION'S MISSIONWOMEN'S CONGRESSIONAL POLICY INSTITUTE (WCPI) WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1995 AFTER THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES VOTED TO ELIMINATE THE STAFF AND FUNDING FOR ALL CAUCUS ORGANIZATIONS, INCLUDING THE CONGRESSIONAL CAUCUS FOR WOMEN'S ISSUES. A NONPROFIT, NONPARTISAN PUBLIC POLICY ORGANIZATION, WCPI'S MISSION IS TO BRING TOGETHER A COMMUNITY OF BIPARTISAN WOMEN POLICYMAKERS AND TRUSTED PARTNERS TO ADVANCE ISSUES OF IMPORTANCE TO WOMEN, DEVELOP THE NEXT GENERATION OF WOMEN LEADERS, AND FOSTER A MORE EFFECTIVE AND REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY.

FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM - THE CONGRESSIONAL FELLOWSHIPS ON WOMEN AND PUBLIC POLICY ARE EXTENDED TO A SELECT NUMBER OF STUDENTS PURSUING OR HAVING RECENTLY COMPLETED A GRADUATE DEGREE AND WHO DISPLAY A PROVEN COMMITMENT TO EQUITY FOR WOMEN. FELLOWS WORK IN CONGRESSIONAL OFFICES AS LEGISLATIVE ASSISTANTS FOR SEVEN MONTHS. FORMERLY THE WREI FELLOWS PROGRAM, WCPI BECAME THE HOME OF THE FELLOWSHIPS IN LATE 2013.
PUBLICATIONS - WCPI PUBLISHES THE WEEKLY LEGISLATIVE UPDATE, AN ONLINE WEEKLY NEWS REPORT THAT PROVIDES INFORMATION ABOUT CURRENT LEGISLATIVE ACTIONS AFFECTING WOMEN AND FAMILIES. THIS REPORT INCLUDES THE CONGRESSIONAL SCHEDULE ON A RANGE OF ISSUES RELATED TO WOMEN AND THEIR FAMILIES, A LIST OF RELEVANT LEGISLATION INTRODUCED, AND A SEARCHABLE DATABASE OF ARTICLES.
