MEMBERSHIP MEMBERSHIP EQUIPS 1,500+ NONPROFITS WITH LEARNING PROGRAMS AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE SERVICES THAT CAN STRENGTHEN THEIR ORGANIZATIONS, AND ENGAGES NONPROFITS IN ADVOCACY FOR EQUITABLE PUBLIC POLICY. MEMBERS MAY BE INVOLVED IN ONE OR MORE OUR PROGRAMS, INCLUDING STANDARDS FOR EXCELLENCE INSTITUTE, MARYLAND ASSOCIATION OF RESOURCES FOR FAMILIES & YOUTH (MARFY), MARYLAND LATINOS UNIDOS (MLU), POLICY COUNCIL AND THE CHARGE UP COLLABORATIVE. MEMBERS LEAD MEMBER ORGANIZED GROUPS IN AREAS OF IT, ROUNDTABLE FOR EXPERIENCED EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS, AND REFUGEE SERVICES. MEMBERS ALSO SAVE MONEY BY PARTICIPATING IN OUR GROUP DISCOUNTS, FREE JOB POSTINGS AND ACCESS TO FUNDRAISING DATABASES. ADVOCACY MARYLAND NONPROFITS ADVOCATES FOR EQUITABLE PUBLIC POLICY ON BEHALF OF THE NONPROFIT COMMUNITY AND THE PEOPLE THEY SERVE. IN 2021, WE RESEARCHED AND PUBLISHED THE COVID-19 & RACIAL EQUITY REPORT, 2021 SALARY SURVEY, AND MARYLAND NONPROFITS BY THE NUMBERS,WHICH ILLUMINATED WORSENING CONDITIONS. THROUGH A COALITION OF NONPROFITS, WE SUCCEEDED IN SECURING A $1.1 BILLION INVESTMENT IN "PUTTING PEOPLE FIRST" THAT INCLUDED NONPROFIT PROVIDER RATE INCREASES (MENTAL HEALTH, DISABILITIES, CHILD WELFARE), CHILDCARE, RENTAL RELIEF AND EVECTION PREVENTION, HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, THE VICTIMS OF CRIME ACT, AND NUTRITION PROGRAMS.


NONPROFIT DEVELOPMENT CENTERTHE NONPROFIT DEVELOPMENT CENTER (NDC) MAKES THE STANDARDS OF EXCELLENCE AND WIDER CONSULTING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE SERVICES AVAILABLE TO SMALL NONPROFITS FREE OF CHARGE. AS OF DECEMBER, 2021, 716 NONPROFITS ENROLLED IN NDC. THE MAJORITY OF NONPROFITS OPERATED UNDER $250,000 AND WITH FEWER THAN 10 EMPLOYEES. THE NDC NETWORK ENABLES LEADERS OF NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS TO LEARN BEST PRACTICES AND COLLABORATE WITH EACH OTHER TO EXPAND THEIR CAPACITY AND IMPACT. IN 2021, MARYLAND NONPROFITS PROGRAMS ATTRACTED PARTICIPANTS TO WORKSHOPS, CONTRACT TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES, CONFERENCES, ROUNDTABLES, AFFINITY GROUPS AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES.


CONSULTING SERVICESIN 2021, MARYLAND NONPROFITS PROVIDED CONSULTING AND LEGAL SERVICES TO OVER 100 ORGANIZATIONS, WITH NEARLY 90% OF CONSULTED NONPROFITS RETAINED AND REQUESTING MORE THAN ONE CONSULTING SERVICE. THE CONSULTING GROUP PROVIDES STRATEGIC PLANNING, BOARD DEVELOPMENT, FUNDRAISING, ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, MERGERS AND STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS, AND JUSTICE, EQUITY, DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION (JEDI). LEGAL SERVICES INCLUDE GUIDING NONPROFITS THROUGH NONPROFIT FORMATION, CORPORATE INTEGRATIONS, DISSOLUTION, TAX AND LEGAL COMPLIANCE, BYLAWS, CONTRACT REVIEW, EMPLOYMENT MATTERS AND NEGOTIATION, AND OTHER LEGAL COMPLIANCE MATTERS. IN 2021, PROVIDED LEGAL COUNSEL TO 60 STARTUPS, AND OFFERED HOTLINE LEGAL AND OTHER TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO 25-50 NONPROFITS PER WEEK ON A VARIETY OF MATTERS RELATED TO NONPROFIT GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT.
