THE ORGANIZATION ASSISTS LOCAL INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN NEED: PHYSICALLY, ECONOMICALLY, EMOTIONALLY, AND SPIRITUALLY. THIS IS DONE WITHOUT RESTRICTION TO RACE, RELIGIOUS BELIEF, NATIONAL ORIGIN, GENDER, AGE, HANDICAP, OR POLITICAL AFFILIATION. IN PROVIDING ASSISTANCE, THE ORGANIZATION IS COMMITTED TO PROMOTING INDIVIDUAL DIGNITY AND SELF-WORTH AND TO ENCOURAGING AND SUPPORTING INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN HELPING THEMSELVES AND OTHERS.

Part 3 - Line 4a

GOOD SAMARITAN HOUSE AND MAIN STREET HOUSE - THE GOOD SAMARITAN HOUSE OPENED IN THE FALL OF 2008 AND THE MAIN STREET HOUSE OPENED IN THE WINTER OF 2015 AND SERVE AS TRANSITIONAL HOUSING. VICTIMS OF DISTASTER ARE PROVIDED SHORT TERM HOUSING AT REDUCED COST WHILE WORKING WITH THE ISC AND OTHER AGENCIES TO FIND SUITABLE PERMANENT HOUSING. ONE HALF OF THE GOOD SAMARTIAN HOUSE AND THE MAIN STREET HOUSE IS RENTED AT OR BELOW MARKET RENTAL RATE TO A LOW INCOME INDIVIDUAL/FAMILY WHO SERVES AS A CARETAKER OF THE PROPERTY.


VARIOUS PROGRAMS INCLUDING ADVENTURES IN FRIENDSHIP (LIFE SKILL TRAINING TO MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS AND YOUTH), KEEP A SENIOR SAFE AND WARM (EDUCATE SENIORS ON HEALTH AND SAFETY), NATIONAL NIGHT OUT, YOUTH PROGRAMS, AND ETC.


SELF HELP IN PARTNERSHIP "SHIP" IS A FOOD PROGRAM IN WHICH LOW INCOME FAMILIES SUPPLEMENT THEIR MONTHLY FOOD BUDGET WITH ADDITIONAL NUTRITIOUS FOODS AT A COST OF JUST $5.25/MONTH. 100 HOUSEHOLDS ARE SERVED EACH MONTH THROUGH THIS PROGRAM. THE ISC ALSO DISTRIBUTES FREE FOOD ON AN EMERGENCY BASIS, INCLUDING USDA COMMODITY FOOD TO THOSE WHO ARE ELIGIBLE. APPROX. 60 HOUSEHOLDS ARE SERVED EACH MONTH THROUGH THIS PROGRAM.


LOAVES & FISHES IS A THRIFT STORE THAT COLLECTS DONATED GOODS AND SELLS ITEMS AT DISCOUNTED PRICES. THE THRIFT STORE IS OPEN 6 DAYS A WEEK AND OFFERS LOW COST CLOTHING, FURNITURE, AND HOUSEHOLD ITEMS TO AREA RESIDENTS. A PART-TIME STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS ARE USED TO RUN THE STORE AND PROCEEDS FROM THE STORE HELP FUND OTHER ISC PROGRAMS.
