OUTREACH & EDUCATION & ACTIONS - GREENPEACE, INC. FURTHERED ITS MISSION OF PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT THROUGH RESEARCH, PUBLIC INFORMATION AND EDUCATION, OUTREACH, AND ADVOCACY. IN 2021, GREENPEACE INC USED SEVERAL NOVEL APPROACHES FOR ENGAGING NEW CONSTITUENCIES AND MOBILIZING EVEN MORE PEOPLE OVERALL TO HELP ACHIEVE WINS FOR THE ENVIRONMENT. THESE ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: * CREATION OF ACTION PODS AROUND THE NATION THAT WERE COACHED BY GP STAFF OR OTHER LONGSTANDING, HIGHLY INVOLVED VOLUNTEERS * NEW INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS AND ORGANIZING CHANNELS FOR OUR COMMUNITIES
CLIMATE & ENERGY - GREENPEACE, INC. IS CAMPAIGNING TO ADDRESS CLIMATE CHANGE. WE WORKED TOWARD A RESPONSIBLE FOSSIL FUEL PHASE-OUT AND A RAPID AND JUST TRANSITION TO A CLEAN ENERGY ECONOMY. WE SUPPORT AN IMMEDIATE HALT TO ALL NEW PERMITS AND INFRASTRUCTURE FOR OIL AND GAS EXPLORATION AND EXTRACTION ON PUBLIC LANDS AND WATERS. WE ALSO SUPPORTED A GREEN NEW DEAL AND OTHER POLICY CHANGES THAT START THE RESPONSIBLE PHASEOUT OF ALL OIL AND GAS PRODUCTION, ENSURING A JUST TRANSITION FOR IMPACTED WORKERS AND COMMUNITIES. FINALLY, OUR CAMPAIGN EDUCATED POTENTIAL VOTERS ON THE MERITS OF PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY CANDIDATES' PROPOSED CLIMATE POLICIES AS COMPARED TO SCIENTIFIC PREDICTIONS AND SOLUTIONS. 2021 GREENPEACE INC CLIMATE AND ENERGY CAMPAIGN HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: * IN OCTOBER, CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR NEWSOM MADE HEADLINES WITH A NEW MOVE TO ADDRESS THE PUBLIC HEALTH CRISIS OF NEIGHBORHOOD DRILLING BY LIMITING NEW OIL & GAS WELLS WITHIN 3,200 FT OF COMMUNITIES, BY FAR THE LARGEST OIL AND GAS "SETBACK DISTANCE" OF ANY STATE IN THE COUNTRY.
OCEANS - GREENPEACE, INC. IS CAMPAIGNING FOR SUSTAINABLE FISHERIES AND SEAFOOD, OCEAN SANCTUARIES (MARINE RESERVES), AND PHASING OUT SINGLE-USE PLASTICS THAT ARE POLLUTING OUR BODIES, LAND, AND OCEANS.
