WE STRIVE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF EACH COMMUNITY AND EACH PATIENT WE SERVE WHILE ADVANCING THE FIELD OF AMBULATORY MEDICINE THROUGH OUR COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE AND INNOVATION.

EAST BALTIMORE MEDICAL CENTER (EBMC): NO OTHER AREA OF BALTIMORE HAS MORE SOCIAL-ECONOMIC PROBLEMS THAN THE AREAS AROUND EBMC HIGH INFANT MORTALITY RATES, HIGH PEDIATRIC INJURY RATES, JUVENILE CRIME, SUBSTANCE ABUSE, HIGH SCHOOL DROP-OUT RATES. THROUGH AN INNOVATIVE ARRANGEMENT WITH BALTIMORE MEDICAL SYSTEMS, 20 JHCP PROVIDERS FTES AT EBMC RENDER OVER 56,000 VISITS A YEAR. IN COLLABORATION WITH BMS, JHCP PROVIDES ADULT AND PEDIATRIC PRIMARY CARE, GYN/OB, PODIATRY, DENTAL AND AN ON-SITE PHARMACY. ADDITIONAL WRAPAROUND SERVICES SUCH AS BEHAVIOR HEALTH AND SOCIAL OUTREACH SERVICES PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE CARE TO THIS VULNERABLE ADULT, YOUTH AND FAMILY POPULATION OF PATIENTS. OF THE 56,925 VISITS RENDERED, 63% OF THE PATIENTS WERE SELF-PAY OR MEDICAID. WRAPAROUND PROVIDES RESOURCES AND TALENTS FROM A VARIETY OF SOURCES CREATING A PLAN OF CARE THAT IS THE BEST FIT BETWEEN THE PATIENT, THEIR FAMILY AND HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS REGARDLESS OF THE PATIENT'S ABILITY TO PAY.
TEACHING: EACH YEAR JOHNS HOPKINS COMMUNITY PHYSICIANS PROVIDES PHYSICIANS AND STAFF TO SUPPORT THE TEACHING OF RESIDENTS, NURSING STUDENTS, NURSE PRACTITIONER STUDENTS AND MEDICAL STUDENTS. JHCP PROVIDES PRACTICAL CLINICAL EXPERIENCE BY PRECEPTING RESIDENTS AND STUDENTS ON LOCATION IN ONE OF JHCP'S AMBULATORY LOCATIONS. IN ADDITION, JHCP PHYSICIANS PROVIDE SERVICES IN THE CLASSROOM, VIA LECTURE AND ON THE INPATIENT UNITS AT JHM HOSPITALS. IN TOTAL, JHCP DIRECTLY TRAINS 147 MEDICAL STUDENTS, 36 NURSING STUDENTS, AND 85 RESIDENTS, 52 PHARMACY STUDENTS/RESIDENTS, 42 ALLIED HEALTH STUDENTS INCLUDING MEDICAL ASSISTANTS, PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS, NURSE MIDWIVES, AND ADMINISTRATIVE STUDENTS.
