THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH THE ASSOCIATION WAS FORMED IS TO PROMOTE PUBLIC HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE THROUGH THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE QUALITY AND QUANTITY OF WATER DELIVERED TO THE PUBLIC AND THE DEVELOPMENT AND FURTHERANCE OF UNDERSTANDING OF THE RELATED PROBLEMS.

CSAWWA'S ANNUAL CONFERENCE AND BUSINESS MEETING IS A JOINT EVENT WITH CHESAPEAKE WATER ENVIRONMENT, INC. (CWEA) AND WATER AND WASTE OPERATORS ASSOCIATION (WWOA). THE TRI-ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE WAS HELD AT THE ROLAND POWELL CONVENTION CENTER, OCEAN CITY, MARYLAND FROM AUGUST 29, 2023 - SEPTEMBER 1, 2023. EVENT HIGHLIGHTS: APPROXIMATELY 1,700 MEMBERS AND PARTNERS OF THE THREE ASSOCIATIONS ATTENDED. THERE WERE 230 EXHIBITOR BOOTHS AND 130 TECHNICAL SESSIONS AND 4 OPERATOR CLASSES. OPERATOR COMPETITIONS INCLUDED THE ANNUAL OPERATIONS CHALLENGE, TOP OPS.


1.) FEBRUARY 2023, A CAREER FAIR (JOINT EVENT WITH CWEA) IN BOWIE, MARYLAND. AROUND 28 FIRMS AND UTILITIES AND 25 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN INTERVIEWS AND NETWORKING. 2.) THE ANNUAL SPRING MEETING WAS HELD JOINTLY WITH CWEA MAY, 2023 AT WSSC'S BRIGHTON DAM, MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MARYLAND. NEARLY 125 ATTENDEES GATHERED FOR A FULL DAY OF TECHNICAL SESSIONS, EXHIBITOR DISPLAYS AND NETWORKING. 3.) PUBLIC WORKS CELEBRATION, BALTIMORE, MD. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COMMITTEE STAFFED A TABLE WITH A TAP WATER TASTE TEST. 4.) JUNE, 2023, THE 74TH ANNUAL SHORT COURSES WAS HELD IN EMMITSBURG, MD. WEEKLONG CLASSES FOR OPERATOR TRAINING AND INCLUDED MDE-PROCTORED LICENSING EXAM. 5.) JULY 2023, SUMMER WORKSHOP WAS HELD IN DENVER, COLORADO, WHERE STAFF AND BOARD MEMBERS ATTENDED A TWO-DAY SESSION ON LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT. 6.) DECEMBER 2023, WATER DISTRIBUTION SEMINAR WAS HELD IN WASHINGTON, DC. APPROXIMATELY 85 ATTENDEES, EXHIBITORS, AND TWO PANEL DISCUSSIONS ON THE OPERATIONAL RECOVERY FROM COVID AND SUPPLY CHAIN ISSUES.
