EACH YEAR FMSAC PROVIDES FUNDING FOR AVALANCHE FORECASTING OPERATIONS OF THE AVALANCHE CENTER. IT HOUSES 2 FULL TIME AVALANCHE FORECASTERS AND ONE PROFESSIONAL FIELD OBSERVER AND PROVIDES INFRASTRUCTURE, SAFETY EQUIPMENT, AND SUPERVISION. FORECASTERS GATHER AVALANCHE, SNOWPACK, AND WEATHER OBSERVATIONS AND THEN USE THE DATA TO CREATE AND ISSUE AVALANCHE FORECASTS AND WARNINGS. FORECASTERS ALSO FUNCTION AS CLIMBING RANGERS ON MOUNT SHASTA AND TEACH EDUCATIONAL COMPONENTS THROUGHOUT THE WINTER MONTHS
