MORE THAN 21,000 CLASSROOMS OF NEARLY 8,000 PUBLIC SCHOOLS WERE COMPLETELY OR SIGNIFICANTLY DESTROYED. THIS PROJECTED WAS STARTED SEVERAL YEARS AGO AND HAS BEEN MONITORED BY HELP NEPAL NETWORK, AND IS EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED IN JUNE OF 2022 AT WHICH TIME HELP NEPAL NETWORK WILL OFFICIALLY HAND OVER THE SCHOOL TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. COVID-19 PREVENTION SUPPORT: THESE FUNDS WILL BE USED FOR EDUCATIONAL AND PREVENTION SUPPORT PROGRAMS OF COVID-19 INFECTIONS IN THE RURAL COMMUNITY OF DOLAKHA, IN EASTERN NEPAL. NEPAL HAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL WAVES OF COVID-19 INFECTIONS AND HEALTHCARE INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE COUNTRY HAS BEEN ILL-EQUIPPED TO HANDLE HOSPITALIZATIONS AND TREATMENT RELATED TO COVID-19 INFECTIONS. BEING IN PROXIMITY TO INDIA AND CHINA HAS ALSO ENABLED THE COVID-19 VIRUS TO ENTER NEPAL FROM THOSE COUNTRIES AND SPREAD RAPIDLY WITHIN NEPAL, OFTEN IN RURAL AREAS, CREATING THE NEED FOR STRONG PREVENTATIVE AND EDUCATIONAL MEASURES. THIS COVID-19 PREVENTION PROJECT IS CONSISTENT WITH OUR MISSION TO SUPPORT EDUCATION, HEALTHCARE AND DISASTER RELIEF PROGRAMS IN NEPAL.
